yes, it's considered a trainer kite tungod sa iyang size. There Hydra 350, you can already use that for landboarding as it's quite big already and will generate lots of pull given the right wind conditions. you can also use it to learn how to body drag in the water. I even use the Hydra 300 which is a smaller trainer kite to practice bodydragging at the beach.

a full size kite (starts at 7sqm up to 15sqm) usually starts at $800 upwards depende sa brand.

HQ Kites has a bigger version of the hydra called Neo. It's called a crossover kite as it can be used for landboarding, snow kiting or kitesurfing. It has the same closed bladder system that keeps it afloat when it crashes in the water.

Most kitesurfing kites are LEI kites (Leading Edge Inflatables). This is because you inflate the leading edge to give the kite it's shape. The NEO does not have an inflatable leading edge so mas sayon sya i setup.

If you have more questions about kiting, just message me here or send me a pm and i'll try to answer all of them. If you'd like a demo of the trainer kite, let me know so we can schedule it on a windy day

My kitesurfing kite is a LEI kite. Here's what it looks like.

Hi! How much and LEI for kitesurfing? Im very interested, I plan to join a kitesurfing camp in Boracay this summer. I may not buy it now since currently my resources are devoted to completing my triathlon gear but I am plan to buy one before summer 2011.

brv, the average price is $800-$1500, that comes with bar and lines and pump. depending on the size and brand.

the size is determined by your overall weight and local conditions. in boracay, the average windspeed is 15-20 knots. here in cebu, it really varies.

which kitesurfing camp are you joining?

Do you have any recommendations? I often see plenty of kitesurfing camps there. My friend recommended that I buy my gear after I finish my lessons, to have an informed decision re the equipment I should buy.

yes, that is what i advise also. since it would depend on the local wind conditions where you plan to kite.

sayang, we don't have kite schools here in cebu. most of them are in boracay, palawan, lake caliraya and subic. all of which are all seasonal.

you can check out freestyle academy or isla kite. freestyle academy is run by Ken, he's a local but he's one of the coolest guys there. they also sell gear from best kiteboarding. i was supposed to get my kite from best but a friend of mine from cali gave me one of his 11meter kites so purchase cancelled.

when do you plan to go there? kite season in boracay is from november till late april but may stretch to may.

I will be there Christmas to New Year but for a family vacation. My wife loves Boracay, we go there on average 3 times a year, sometimes more.

Yes, kinda forgot about the seasons there. I went there last February and it was pretty cool seeing all those kites at Bulabog beach( if i'm not mistaken).

Ill check out freestyle academy. Btw, can you give me Ken's number? Planning to join a 3 day kitesurfing camp probably April. I wonder how much he charges.

Btw, what part of Cebu has strong winds good enough for kitesurfing?

awesome! that's my problem actually, i don't know if i can go kiting with my wife and kid around basin kasab-an ko kay sigeg kite hahaha

i don't have ken's number though but here's their website http://www.freestyle-boracay.com/. their rates are there as well.

i dunno some of them remember us, we were there last halloween 2007 and luckily they had some foreign kiteboarders there. i heard ruben lenten will be coming to boracay next year. hope to see him do one of his big-ass mega kiteloops.

as for cebu, i heard that there are some kiteboarding schools doing kitesafari trips in bantayan and malapascua.

my wife and i will be going to tabuelan this january. that's on north west part of the island. the same direction where bulabog beach is facing. when we went there last year, the winds were about 10-15knots so it's about good for kiting.

also heard from a local windsurfer that the winds are good at liloan beach for windsurfing. i might try to bring the big kite there one of these days.
