Based on the million-selling video game franchise, a movie is in the works!
Sadly the odds are against it as video game movies are often terrible or poorly received.
According to THQ, there's a Saint's Row movie in the works.
In an interview with Gamasutra, THQ CEO Brian Farrell said the film should be released at the same time as the next game installment... if all goes according to plan. “I’m not going to comment on their timing... I can’t speak for the people in Hollywood. [But] this builds our brand at no cost to us.”
Here's some other THQ, ancillary properties coming:
* A novel set in the Homefront universe.
* Red Faction is getting a pilot on the Syfy Channel.
We'll learn more about the Saint's Row movie in December, and we'll let you know as soon as we know anything.
First off, movies based on video games have always been terrible (with a few kinda exceptions), and I gotta wonder whether Saint's Row has enough of a fan base to really support a big budget movie release. Maybe I'm wrong, after all, there's a Kane & Lynch movie in the works with big, big stars in it, but I don't know. Let me ask you guys: Would you go see a Saint's Row movie? I would... something about the anarchic, hilarious world of Saint's Row would work on-screen, I think.
