it's juz so unfair that under the constitution "the separation between church and state shall be inviolable".. but the church keeps on dipping their hands in the affairs of the state! the state does not tell them what doctrines to teach.

THe church must only be a guide, even God gives us FREE WILL.. but the church wants to CONTROL the people! IF what they teach is properly implanted in the hearts of their congregation, then there won't be any unwanted pregnancies that would need for an abortion!

Bottom line is, whether or not we legalize abortion, if the hearts of their congregation are in tune with their teachings, the church is confident that their people won't violate God's laws.

Filipino lawyer joins fight against birth control bill

A well-known Filipino lawyer has joined the fight against the proposed reproductive health bill that is being considered by the Philippine Congress.

“Let’s show [supporters of the bill] that the Church [establishment] is not the only one against the bill but also us… the lay people,” Romulo Macalintal told reporters in Manila.

Macalintal, who specializes in electoral law, called on Filipino Catholics to help him in his campaign by reproducing anti-abortion stickers and posters he had brought from Canada.

“Catholics who believe in ‘pro-life’ should reproduce the materials and donate this to the Church or other organizations that help promote the pro-life movement,” he said.

“We don’t have the right to kill unborn babies,” Macalintal said, adding that parents should “act boldly” to stop the passage of the RH bill.

Macalintal has been a lector and commentator at the Last Supper of Our Lord Parish in Las Pinas City for 27 years.

Meanwhile, urban poor residents of three coastal villages in Navotas, north of Manila, called on President Benigno Simeon Aquino III to set aside money to help improve people’s livelihoods instead of using funds to buy contraceptives.

About 200 demonstrators protested outside a fishing port in the area to draw attention to their views.

Marvin Cuneta, a community leader, said the proposed birth control program of the government will not slow the ballooning population growth. He said Aquino should focus instead on helping poor Filipinos improve their lives.
