Im into precious metal recovery, does anyone tried it here using Aqua Regia method.
Aqua Regia is the mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid. Its a highly corrosive acid. We always hate handling that in college, it can go through our gloves and make holes on our lab gowns. My guess is this method of recovery involve dissolving metals on the acid, right?
Most of these reactions with aqua regia yields NO(nitric oxide), which is a pollutant. It contributes to the depletion of the ozone layer. I certainly hope you will have pollution control methods employed when processing. I often see people doing recycling with no regard for the environmental effects of the process they are employing.
yes, you're right its is highly corrosive, but prior to dispose it i will make sure that the ph level is at the right point to be non hazardous to human as well as to the enviroment.
Just curious. What do you do to neutralize the acid? Also what do you pollution control technique do you use on the NO gas created by the reaction?
