Maka ingon gyud ka nga abusado kaayo ang pari... pero there are no systems of check and balance man sad so how will the faithful know if their donations are being used properly? Ang solution ra gyud is transparency and full disclosure.

There's no need for investigation or proof.. that German Church already apologized for investing the money in weapons manufacturers, tobacco companies and pharmaceutical companies that make contraceptives. More transparency would have prevented this from happening in the first place.

Sa atong legal system... wala! because he is manipulating the system. He does however have a moral obligation to his flock who gave their donations expecting that he will use it for the benefit of all and not just for himself.

With transparency, if his followers have conclusive proof nga he is just enriching himself... then common sense dictates that they will stop giving him money. Transparency allows everyone equal access to information and prevents religious groups from committing abuses.

Thats why we have philanthropists / anonymous donors ... / weekend groups that do socio-civic activities. These people do good as well. Their work has a direct effect sa community pa gyud unlike sa Church where a 100 peso donation would only result in around 80 pesos or less aid to the needy... naa pa may "operational expense" sa church.

Makalagot lang when some people give money to the church "para ma langit sila"... some would say nga that is charity.. pero para nako... ilang objective is not really to help others... pero they are just donating to save their own asses.

Mas bilib pa ko anang people who aren't so religious yet find the time to give money , create a foundation or really do things to help the needy. They do good not because of their fear of going to hell ... but they do good out of their own genuine goodness and humanitarianism.

don't be so defensive... ma klaro na hinuon nga ur trying to defend the RCC. Wala man ni attempt to single out any religious group. Infact daghan man sad violations in other religions.

So kung RCC tirahan.... mu cry foul dayon over lack of evidence pero kung lain nga church group... its assumed na nga theyre doing it.

Basaha usab ang topic... walay gi single out nga religious organization... imo ra nang huna-huna kay defensive kaayo ka sa RCC. I wonder why that is...

    diha sakto ka bro..

i dont understand why some religious groups...ask "donations" as compulsury..
kung unsa kadako imo sweldo dako pod imoa i donate...
abi nko gitagaan ang tao ug "free-will"??

.ug naa pod diha mag stambay sa fuente.. baligyaan ka ug religious items..kahuman if dika mupalit..pugson ka hatag bisan sinsilyo..

di ba libre man ang pulong sa ginoo?? dapat libre dili kay negosyo..
why not spread those church materials for free so all people will know the message of our Lord..

    dapat lng pud.
kung wala sila gibuhat nga binoang why not. dapat confident sila mo open sa public sa ilang liquidations. proud pa gani sila, nya mo increase pa ilang followers..

unlike other christian sectors 10% of your income straight from the bible jud. grabe.. mao na imong ihatag nila monthly ug compulsory na, dli heartily. dli na xa donation kung di obligation. example aning among silingan born again. mao na ilang pamaagi, naa may bayad ang pulong sa ginoo sa ila.

What is needed is more education. I think just about everyone is already aware or knows which religious organizations or parishes are practicing corruption, or are misusing the funds that they donate. If they continue to donate their money, then no amount of transparency will rectify the issue. Some people see it as a way to show their faith, they don't actually care how the money is spent, of course they should care, but at the end of the day these are given freely and as springfield said there is a big difference between taxes which are coerced, and donations which are voluntary. As a matter of fact, in many countries, churches have been forced to close down due to lack of donations and patrons.

What I'm more concerned about is non taxpaying entities telling the government what to do with taxes, especially true with the RCC. It's one thing to be tax exempt, and not be transparent, it's quite another to not be paying taxes and still tell people how tax money should be spent. I believe that being non-taxpayers the RCC should not pressure or bully the government on tax matters, since it is not a taxpayer nor does it represent the interests of taxpayers as a whole. Whenever I hear priests trashtalk the RH bill for example, for wasting taxpayer money I get pissed off because they really have no business talking on my behalf and because they themselves don't contribute a single cent to the running of our government institutions so why should they be allowed to comment on such things.
