Default Should Religious Organizations Open their Books to Public Scrutiny?

Shouldn't the people be allowed to see how their donations are being used?

We know that religious organizations are exempt from tax. Shouldn't we know how our money is being spent by these religious organizations?

No, says the Catholic Church. You should not question the holy as they way that you do not question their faith.

I wonder is the inquiry also existed in other countries, do they ask the religious organizations
to divulge how do they spent the alms.
Then I wonder why is it, that those give did not ask at all, only those who don't.
Why are they so concerned with other peoples disbursement?

Then if I give something to the beggars on the street, do I have to pay taxes for that.

..... the Philippine Constitution is very clear about the " Separation of Church and State "
the gov't. should not stick their nose on the churches..the same way churches should not
pronounce political affiliation..... if one gives money to the church... it is for one reason only..
and that is because you love the Lord.... if you can't stand minding how the church is spending
your money.... then check yourself..... your heart.... your faith.... and many other things.

it would be good if the Church willingly open their books for public scrutiny....however, they have the right to keep that information for themselves...can you go to a business establishment and demand to check their books? i think not.... can you say to Gawad Kalinga Foundation to check whether your 2Tpeso donation is rightfully appropriated? i think not... That discretion should be left with the Church....

For transparency reasons and to avoid any shadows of a doubt, these organizations should not hinder any query regarding where and when they did used the donations, especially to those individuals or companies that have donated generous amounts, in fact it is best (but not necessary) that these organizations voluntarily present their liquidations.

For sure more donations will come.....
