^ One of the problems with our government is they don't invest enough in public education. That's why the catholic church steps in, provides better schools and now they have to push through a law that will dictate to the catholic church that runs these schools the kind of RH education they should teach. It becomes a source of fuel for agitators to call the bill coercive. If our government spent more on schools and made sure they are at least not laughing stock in the world with poor quality facilities then this would already solve 1/2 of the overpopulation issue. If the public schools were better, more parents would enroll their kids there, and the government can then push their agenda without complaint from the church. the main source of discontent here is that the church has stepped in to fill a void left by our own government and now the government wants to dictate to them what curriculum they should teach. If in the first place our public schools were better, this wouldn't be necessary.
The reason the catholic church here is so powerful is because our government is so incompetent. So now the catholic church has this wide-reaching influence through their education system that stretches from elementary through college and the government wants some of that power and influence back. The church shouldn't be blamed for filling in the void left by our badly run government institutions, if not for the private school system put in place by the church then there would be an even more serious education crisis in this country.
