You've heard of bad governance, war, and corruption, haven't you? These are the real causes of poverty, not the imagined "overpopulation" you are so hysterical about.

2.) the article looks at the problem from an idealistic point of view.. it doesnt give a realistic view on the the problem... ideally, the whole concept is good... but sad to say, it isnt practical.. hell, it is even so detached to whats really going on the streets n barangays..
On the contrary, it is the overpopulation myth that is totally out of touch with reality. Population control has never worked because poverty is not caused by population growth.

id rather be euthanised than place a burden on my children!
In case youi haven't noticed, you don't have a choice. Your taxes pay for retirement benefits and other support systems for the elderly. When you get old and retire, your chiuldren's taxes will pay for your benefits and support. What would you have us do? Remove these benefits and let the aged suffer and die on their own just because you may have enough money (while others don't)? That is inhumanly selfish of you.

Since these systems are already in place and are necessary, it does not make sense to implement population control, policies that will bring abiout population ageing (thus increasing the proportion of non-working aged persons that have to be supported by the taxes of a proportionately shrinking category of working persons).

namatay nalang si Kristo wa ghapon na nawala nga mga issue.. its part of life.. maski pa si kristo mismo himoon nmu presidente di ghapon na mawala... i really dont know why you are blind to the real problem or most probably you chose not to see the ugly truth...

    daw be.. what is real?

di ba poverty is when there is scarcity of a resource? scarcity of a resource occurs when there is too much demand.. when there is demand.. prices must go up!. when prices go up. daghan di mka afford..

there are 2 ways to tackle this problem.
    either:
1.) increase availability of resources.. (considering out situation now, it isnt practical nor economically vialble, besides, population is expected to grow, so we will be forced to develop more.. therefore spend more)
2.) reduce demand (or consumers)..-population control.. it can be done cheaply and does not cause pressure on those supporting.. -its a win-win situation

mahitabo nato ani is like america.. the poorest nation and pinakadako utang sa kalibutan.. yup. remove those benifits.. a good parent those not want to place burden on the children.. dapat while capable pa, nagsave na para retirement.. whats wrong with that? im not selfish.. i just love my children more than myself..

so kinsa nato duha mas selfish karon? hahahaha

ngano man lage jud mag pa buhi ta sa next generation? let them work and build on their dreams.. lets not give them undue burden... di diay ta mka ipon para sa ato retirement?..

dont be selfish..... the least advice i can give you is to have your self financially educated.. kung gust ka, refer tka to fellow istoryans...

Anyone who says we have unlimited resources should have been aborted by their mother. =)

^^ bitaw amorsoloX, parents should save for their own retirement and let their kids worry about their own future. I think it's typical Pinoy crab mentality to expect someone else to support them in their retirement. In other countries they have superannuation and forced retirement savings but here people would call it coercion and there'd be an endless debate from people like that guy on how tyrannical the government is for forcing people. It's a fact that government has the power to coerce and in many countries even the leader of the free world U.S.A. there are many government programs that are coercive, such as the recently passed health care reform bill. It is the Catholic church that does not have the power to coerce, but they delude themselves into thinking that they do. I think they just miss the days when they can have anyone killed or tortured and had total power over life and death. Now they are just like biting insects that buzz louder than they sting.

ahm.. while on the subject nata ane.. kabalo ka anang new senior citizen's act? its a very stupid law.. tungod ana, wala na hinoon tambal ato mga tigulang.. kay ngano, ang ila tambal is 20% discount.. taz profits sa pharmacies are just aroung 5%. doing the math, pharmacies lose 15% when a senior citizen buys medicine.. thats bad for business.. so to survive, you are forced not to sell those products... nag negosyo ka para mobuhi sa imo pamilya.. your not a charity organization...

though humot kaayo ni kang noy2x and sa simbahan nga law.. it kills our businesses and our elderly.. mkapalit man hinoon ato mga tiguwang sa ila tambal.. pero underground.. which is mas mahal na hinoon kay sa previous price.. and selected ra pud ang baligyaan..

mao jud ni resulta sa mentality sa pinoy nga gusto ra magpabuhi sa lain.. in the end. it will the source of our downfall...

we need to be responsible citizens.. we have to look beyond what looks and sounds good.. we have to look at what really works.. even if its ugly... we need to be realistic.. we cannot live on imaginary/abstract things..
