Rock band drummer files P1M libel suit vs musician

THE drummer for the rock band Cueshe has filed a P1-million libel suit against a fellow drummer for writing an e-mail that allegedly said he was disrespectful of other musicians and also called for a boycott of his band.

Michael Manuel Manaloto charged with libel Vinci Rodriguez, who introduced himself as a back-up drummer of actress Ara Mina, in the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.

In his complaint, Manaloto accused Rodriguez of writing an e-mail circulating in the Pinoydrums e-group, an online community of Filipino drummers, and ABS-CBN Interactive, which allegedly depicted him in a bad light.

The e-mail was Rodriguez’s account of an incident on May 27, in which he accused Manaloto of wrecking his drum parts, including the skin of his snare drum which became dented.

Manaloto’s band had been invited by Mina to perform in her show at Ratsky’s bar on Tomas Morato Avenue.

After the band performed their number, Rodriguez confronted Manaloto about the damage to his equipment which the latter had used.

Manaloto and his manager later offered to have the parts replaced, but Rodriguez, in his e-mail, said nothing came out of the offer.

He added that he no longer intended to make Manaloto pay for the damage to his drum set which he placed at P600. He stressed, however, that he would never forget Manaloto’s rudeness.

In his version of the events, Manaloto said his offer to replace Rodriguez’s drum parts was made not as an admission of liability but only to avoid trouble.

He also denied that he was responsible for the damage to the instrument.

hmmm karon pa ko kahibalo nga naa diay ni nga thread sa istorya. ive read about this incident sa pinoydrummer yahoogroup. i dont think vinci wrote anything bashing the band or the drummer although he might have implied it when he said "baka sirain pa ang heads nyo" but that's understandable because it was written from a point of anger. iya ra gipagawas iya kalagot.

now regarding his intent for emailing the issue to the list. its just a warning for others to take precaution. he's just saying that it might or might not happen to you but it happened to him.

* Alvin, it's not about CUESHE baya. its about CUESHE's drummer Michael. He is saying that what Vinci wrote is purely pandaot? what does that mean? is he denying that nakaguba siya sa equipment ni Vinci? Abi nimo, kung gusto mo sikat si Vinci he could have done more and gone to the press or some columnist or pa interview sa talk show. Wala man gidaut ni Vinci ang Cueshe. Nag reklamo ra gyud siya sa unsa nahimo (damage sa gamit niya) og ang wala nahimo ni Michael (ang pagbayad sa iyang naguba). Since kaila man mo ni Michael, e advice na lang siya nga bayaran si Vinci. And di baya ni about Cebu or Manila, this is about being accountable sa imong actions. Paki extend akong congratulations sa Cueshe, sa ilang success karon sa Manila. salamat! PEACE!

so, sa iyang part he feels that he has taken cared of things? because nakahatag na siya supposedly og bayad for Vinci thru the PA nga according to him has taken the money and disappeared? The PA must be in dire need of money huh? kay murag di man thousands ang kantidad sa equipment nga naguba ni Mike cguro. Anyways, out na si Vinci sa iyang problem with the PA. kay that's Mike's problem. Mike should pay since ni admit man siya nga naka wreck siya. And I don't think he has addressed the problem, according to your post, he thinks that he has, but he hasn't. Maybe you can ask your bro to tell Mike to pay Vinci? mao gani gikiha ni michael si vinci coz michael was trying to resolve the issue with the PA, he really thot gibayaran sa PA. alangan man sad mohatag pa jud xa ni vinci na nihatag naman xa sa PA dba? no one in his ryt mind wud do that! mao to na he was trying his best to resolve the issue first with the PA para ma-address na ang kang vinci. but problem is, wa mohuwat si vinci na ma-resolve ni mike ang issue with the PA and ni-diretso lang xa write ato na article. unfair sad dba? vinci could have asked for his pay the second time to be fair with mike since busy bya xa and malimtan na c vinvi.

you might want to read the actual article ni Vinci sa page 1 of this thread. It did state there that Vinci tried a lot of times to make contact with them but to no avail...
