Bacolod accepts Iloilo as twin city

BACOLOD City, as it celebrates its 72nd Charter Anniversary Tuesday, it embraces Iloilo City as her fraternal twin to strengthen their potential to grow together.
The ceremony will be witnessed by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who is the keynote speaker. It will be held at the Government Center.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, members of the City Council and Bacolod Representative Anthony Golez will represent the city in the rites.
Iloilo City will be represented by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, other officials and Iloilo Representative Jerry Trenas.
The cities of Bacolod and Iloilo do not only speak the same tongue but basically share the same history and culture. These commonalities can promote and foster a strong friendship, goodwill and a very special mutual understanding that will enhance the well being of each other, officials said.
Both cities have also noteworthy achievements in the fields of science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, urban planning and development, trade, commerce and industry, agriculture, sports development, environment protection, education and public health and social services that will enable the sisterhood to complement each other, primarily to develop policies and programs for the betterment of its constituents.
Sharing the highest expression of hope and commonality of purpose with Iloilo, Bacolod pledges its full cooperation to all the programs and projects in the furtherance of this sisterhood alliance.
The ceremony is said to be the highest form of international, national, intra and inter-regional cooperation expected to advance the quality of life of the parties involved.
The rites, according to city officials, offers a unique and rewarding exchange of ideas, best practices in government, cultural, social, professional, technical, agricultural, economic, educational phases, tourism and investments, improved delivery of services and all other areas of mutual interest, in the spirit of friendship and understanding. If you want to have a ride, the fee is P15,000 and you can ride all you want from for a maximum of 8 hours including a ride from Hawaiian-Philippine to EB Magalona and back. Just request through the Silay City Tourism Office.
