game region na siya, R1 = US, R2 = EU, R3 = Asian, but it doesn't matter because region free ang PS3, the difference is where you get the DLC, kung R1 imo game, dapat sa US PSN store etc...

R3 games are cheaper, for example ang MoH kay 1950 ra, basin ang R1 anga naa sa 2500+

Can Final Fantasy XIV Be Salvaged on PS3?

After a barrage of poor review scores, it is clear that there are major problems with Square Enix's new multiplayer online game. The PC version of Final Fantasy XIV has been criticized for a variety of interface, performance and gameplay issues that hinder an otherwise worthwhile outing. It seems as though this is another classic example of a big game being rushed to market before it was ready.

The problems with Final Fantasy XIV are not just superficial annoyances, either. According to Gamespot, which awarded the game a 4/10 score, "It's hard to miss these gaffes--the bizarre and unfriendly method of getting an account set up, the troublesome patcher, having to exit the game if you want to adjust the graphics settings, and so on. [...] In fact, they set the stage for a misguided effort that uses its atrocious interface and tortuous mechanisms to veil its core simplicity and unending repetition." Ouch.

The Gamespot reviewers are not alone in delivering a less-than-glowing report on Final Fantasy XIV. Competing publication IGN awarded the game a similarly dismal 5.5/10 for its shaky performance: "While Final Fantasy XIV features a flexible class system and interesting crafting mechanics, issues with its presentation, performance, and core questing structure turn what could be an entertaining online adventure into an arduous experience that, in its current state, isn't worth playing."

Can the PS3 release of the game, which is expected in March 2011, be salvaged? Fortunately, some of the problems identified by reviewers of the PC version can probably be overcome in the conversion to consoles. In particular, the complaint about twiddly graphics settings, which will be fixed on the PS3, is likely to become a non-issue (although graphics performance limitations could rear their ugly and frame-stuttering heads). The overworld map can be improved and shortcuts can be added to the menu system. There is also an opportunity to repair and simplify the user interface problems, since the PS3 input is so different from that on PC and will need to be re-vamped anyway. Indeed, many of the negative reviews of the PC version have complained that the interface seems designed with a controller in mind. We suspect that some of the PC reviewers may have been expecting a WoW type experience, when encountering what is essentially a Japanese RPG for consoles.

Where developers are unlikely to be able to make significant changes is in the core mechanics of gameplay. For example the market system, which has been described as "a mess" is likely to remain that way unless designers radically alter the game's underlying code. A strong sense of repetition in Levequests also appears difficult to remedy, without radically adding to the variety of quests on offer and the storyline that accompanies them. The overall sense from reviewers is that this game feels rushed, even though it contains some of the core things that make Final Fantasy fans stick with the series.

So despite the poor initial reviews, we think there is still scope to rescue Final Fantasy XIV from disappointing game purgatory. Probably not enough room to craft a 9/10 game, but we would be happy if the PS3 version can be improved enough to garner scores in the 7/10 range by the time it releases. Are we engaging in some wishful thinking as PS3 fanboys? Let us know in the comments.
