I think the implementation of Open ID by some sites answer that.

The next big thing? Define your (or your team's) capabilities and create original ideas out from it. Or you can easily copy from the existing one, i.e. (1) NING.COM (2) create a site that will let users create his/her own Digg like site (someone already started this) (3) create your own GOOGLE company .... too many of them. But the best thing to do is to choose the simplest idea with high ROI
