hello guys...that is so great using python language...im using also CLIPS programs...on my UNIX..any interested?
if mao naa, sakto rasad wala ko nag tarong sa ako programming subjects hehehe
JOKE!!!
console.writeline("pait ani oi.. mga parehas nato programmer gamay sweldo");
yaw mo pailad kay dako kaayo difference sweldo sa cebu vs makati for programmers. browse lang ug jobs.db or bestjobs.ph makita ninyo pila offer sa PHP/Java/.Net programmers.
hopefully dili magdugay mu-apas ang cebu sa makati in terms of rate kay although gibasihan kuno nila ang cost of living pero ang revenue sa mga companies pareha ra. in fact mas dako sila tipid sa cebu.
imagine lang ang earnings nila per software project... millions! yet pila ra ila i-sweldo sa cebu developers kay kuno mas lower and cost of living compared sa makati.
although ma-justify sad nila in terms of skills kay makaingon ta nga mas labaw ang makati compared sa cebu in terms of skills, experience, and exposure. but that has become a generalization which is not fair sad sa uban mga skilled cebu programmers.
so hopefully gyud maka-apas ang cebu sa makati for those aspects. kana kung mudaghan ang IT companies sa cebu to provide more exposure to cebu programmers. but at least gradually that's happening.
but really, cebu programmers are UNDERPAID! so you can try working in makati for at least 3 years to have that exposure and 'brand'. then if you want, apply ka balik cebu and have the right to demand your rate.
Not really a cost of living is the reason and I cant call it underpaid. I think it's fair.
(So Makati programmers are underpaid compare to Singapore or US devs?)
It is just supply and demand. They cant give 100/k month because they dont need 100k/month programmer.
Solution: make Cebu more business friendly. Give tax breaks and other perks to high earning IT companies. This will increase the demand for IT business, which will increase the demand for developers. Increased demand in developers will cause our salaries to go up.
With the coming of Accenture, IBM, and other IT & Graphics companies to Cebu I think and I hope this is
coming to fruition.
Cebu also needs to be advertised more not only for our beach resorts and the like, but also for the fact that we are strategically located in the center of the country and that we are mostly good English speakers - a big factor in Software Development.
Just basing from experience: 2 programmers with about equal skills and years of experience. One is coming from Olongapo, and the other is from Cebu. I was involved with the decision making for hiring these 2 guys. After negotiations and all, the Olongapo guy gets a way higher salary than the Cebuano. Way way higher!
Why didn't the Cebuano get as much as the Olongapo guy did? It was because he didn't demand higher or he wasn't aware of his rate! How often does this happen? My colleagues would have been OK if he asked for a higher rate. But he didn't!
Now from my experience and from experiences of others this kind of thing happens many many times in Makati. Cebuano programmers need to be aware of their rate. Ok, so Cebu companies offer lower salaries, but we should still be informed and updated of our rates nowadays in relation to our skills and experience.
