Thumbs down Imperial Palace dumping sewage in sea! MUST BE STOPPED

    Good day.

I was just informed by my friend that they discovered that imperial palace has been dumping sewage into the sea thereby making Mactan not only unsafe to swim in but also damaging to the ecosystem.

    This must be stopped!

    How can we help?

I seriously doubt this. If they did this, they would hurt themselves too as it's their beach that will first be affected. We gotta be careful about all these people spreading baseless rumors, since most of them rely on being anonymous. They should print out their names and show their evidence so they can be sued for defamation if the evidence is fake.

i read the comments on the facebook link and also read news article on this last week. the sample was positive for coliform bacteria. eeeewww!!! that is just so wrong!

Meanwhile, the photo of a leaking sewage pipe quickly prompted a cease-and-desist order issued by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paza Radaza against the Imperial Palace last Oct. 1.

The hotel, however, continues to operate after it complied with City Hall's instruction to immediately shut off its valves to the sewage pipe.

Hotel management said it would issue a full statement in a press conference this week.

City Hall acted after getting results of water quality tests by a private laboratory that showed the coliform count near the pipe leak exceeded the tolerable limit of 10,000 MPN/100ml.

The coliform count is a crucial indicator of how clean and safe is the coastal water for swimming, bathing, diving and other human activity.
