Hot bikes' used in illegal drag racing seized in Cotabato
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Government operatives seized the other day 20 more heavily customized “hot motorcycles” being used in clandestine drag racing here by children of influential families.

Motorcycle drag racing has lately become a fad among gangs of adolescents here, mostly scions of big Muslim clans.

More than a dozen of the almost 40 motorcycles jointly impounded in different operations the past seven days by members of the Land Transportation Office 12 and the Army’s anti-crime Task Force Tugis here were found out as “stolen,” apparently originating from nearby towns.

Lt. Col. Roy Galido, commanding officer of Task Force Tugis, said it is up to the LTO’s office in Cotabato City to process the stolen motorcycles and work out their return to their rightful owners.

The LTO 12 earlier deputized the task force, a component unit of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, as its law enforcement arm in all of the 37 barangays here, now plagued by wanton operations of motorcycle thieves and motorcycle-riding hired killers.
