Taken during last year's dolphin survey at Taņon Strait just off the coast of Aloguinsan, south-eastern town of Cebu.
Risso's Dolphin
Not your typical kind of dolphin since it lacks that elongated snout or more commonly known as "bottle-nose"
and it thrives mainly on large squids or "talopapa" in local vernacular.
Not so many knew of these even some folks in Alegria where surprised to know when we presented them our shots as part of our
survey (I was a volunteer for UP Diliman's Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology) and educate them in the
preservation and protection of the their town's municipal waters and to present local fisherfolks an alternative means of income in the tourism industry capitalizing in their town's potential as venue for ecotourism since these species of dolphin's are more existent in their area as compared
to other regions in the Philippines.
