Default TV5 Surpasses ABS-CBN in Mega Manila

Di ko sure if na post na ni so if humana paclose nalang sa thread ty.

TV5 rating last Sept. 18 surpasses ABS-CBN in Mega Manila! | Durian Republik!

The effort to better service the public with balanced programming finally paid off for TV5.

Just recently, the network came up second only to GMA 7, but had surpassed ABS-CBN in viewership based on AGB Mega Manila Individual Ratings.

    September 18, TV5 had a 24.6% audience share compared to the 21.3% ng ABS-CBN.

    GMA-7 had a 34% audience share.

Among TV5 programs credited for the weekend boost is the show “Talentadong Pinoy,” which also enjoyed a higher than usual during its September 19 episode.

Ryan Agoncillo, show figurehead and host, is proud of the results, which he said is reflective of the hard work he and the show’s production staff had continuously poured into the show.

“Hindi rin naman naging madali, matagal rin naman bago kami napansin,” said he in a taped interview aired over “Paparazzi” on September 26.

“Midnight DJ,” which is also part of the Saturday programming of the network, has also been credited for enticing weekend viewers to tune in to the channel.

“Salamat po sa inyong suporta,” Oyo Boy Sotto, the one of the series’ main cast, intoned in a separate interview.

Expected to bring in more viewers is the much-awaited new show of controversial comedian and TV host Willie Revillame.

Dubbed “Willing Willie” the show is set to start in October, that is, if the legal hassles of its host, at that point, would have been cleared.

Reports have it that Revillame is now very much willing to settle the P486 million worth of damages that ABS-CBN is asking from him.

Mao ni result sa biased public affairs program, stale TV novelas, and a boring noon time show.

Samot na when Willie starts his noon time TV show in TV5. It's impossible na maatbangan sa ABS ang Eat Bulaga and si Willie with the likes of inferior hosts like Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino.

Kalooy sa kapamilya 3rd place nalang and kudos to Manny P for a job well done. Too bad for most without cable di pa clear ang signal sa TV5 dinhi sa Cebu.

    Proud to be a kapatid.

    EVEN GMA-7 IS SCARED

    GMA Network blocks TV5 expansion
    16 September 2010 / The Manila Times
GMA Network Inc. is blocking the planned expansion of the operator of TV5.

In a filing with the National Telecommunications Commission, GMA Network wants the regulator to deny the application of Mediascape, a unit of MediaQuest Holdings Inc., to operate and maintain a very high frequency and ultra high frequency TV broadcasting system in 50 areas, including the cities of Butuan, Ormoc and Tacloban, the provinces of Zambales, Bohol and Albay and Coron Island in Palawan.

Last year, MediaQuest bought ABC Development Corp. as well as 70 percent of Prima Berhad for P4 billion to gain control of TV5.

MediaQuest is the media arm of the PLDT group.

GMA Network said MediaScape, formerly known as GV Broadcasting Inc., has “no legal capacity” to construct, operate and maintain any TV broadcasting operations in the country.

GMA Network said MediaScape is “operating in violation of its legislative franchise under Republic Act No. 8591.”

GMA Network said the divestment of the Galang family and Satventures Inc. as shareholders of GV Broadasting in favor of MediaQuest had no approval of Congress and the NTC.

Satventures owned 500,000 shares in GV Broadcasting, while the Galang family had 60,000 shares.

GMA Network said the sale or transfer is “precisely what is prohibited under Section 10 of R.A. No. 8591 amending Section 12 of RA No. 8169.”
