those were just cheap talks and it was not even detailed so you could have just let it pass... but if your skeptic about it, then you could have made your own investigation, don't just believe in small, cheap talks unless proven otherwise... now he is mad at you, i dunno how you confront him that made him reacted that way, he shouted at you... now, if the talks were true then maybe it was his style to deny or defend himself but if it wasn't true then you screwed up!
