... right after Floyd kicks Antonio Margarito's arse...
kick margarito's arse? lol floyd trashed 8 million $ just to aviod him and then challenge the weak punching cory spinks. im a big pbf fan thought he was invicible at lightweight but ducking margarito reduced my respect for him. margarito was worth the risk. imagine being paid 8 million for a not so popular fighter. he is the new roy jones jr in the making, fighting handpicked opponents. not like our very own pacman who continues to seek for supremacy no matter what the risk.

i agree with you bro. lets just see what peters have against fatboy james toney
David Tua was not considered as an elite boxer because like Riddick Bowe he never took boxing seriously. he never developed his talent and skills, he depended on his power punch too much. Imagine if Tua had developed his ring movement and defense, with raw power like that and a granite chin he could have blasted a lot of the elite fighters of today. Even Lewis was warry of his hooks.
a prime tua vs a prime tyson would have been a hell of a fight. were just not lucky coz they peaked at different periods

tyson's head movement during his prime in the late eigties was out of this world. his chin was depedable but tua's wasn't. ike destroyed tua's confidence and tyson would do that much more.

that's true and sad. tyson's popularity didn't help him a lot but instead it destroyed his family, career and even himself.

i hope this will not happen to manny pac!

Honestly.. Tyson had his chances against Douglas, I give Douglas the credit of having a good chin ... a rematch would've been great!

Franklin: regardless... do you really think Margarito has the talent to beat Floyd? Margarito is just another Mayorga, a rough brawler.. shows openings while throwing those looping shots. Floyd maybe an arrogant bastard but I can't deny the fact that he is a great fighter. Against a highly technical fighter like Floyd, Margarito has no chance of beating him... he's gonna be outboxed and outpunched and totally outclassed... just as what Oscar did to Mayorga.

tyson has all the overwhelming tool to defeat Douglas. but tyson wasn't in that fight, i believe those distractions were from his off the ring problems at that time.

David Tua never had his gloves touch the canvas in any of his fights. Even Ike "The President" Ibeabuchi could not accomplish that.

agree with you Franklin.... Tyson vs Tua would have been a classic.

it wasnt a real tyson during that night. when i was in high school, a la salle brother(a supervisor of our school) once told us that during that tyson's fight in japan, a japanese master or i think it was a high priest monk once invited tyson to visit him. but, tyson just ignored the invitation. he said that disrespecting those kind of poeple could mean disaster. i dont know what the master did to tyson(maybe he was voodoed ) it wasnt the mike tyson that people are used to. it maybe superstitious but even our la salle brother believed that there's something hidden with that master that is extraordinary. he said after the fight, tyson went to the master and asked for forgiveness.

i dont know if margarito can beat floyd. the truth could only be revealed only if they fight. i used to believe that mayorga was a terrible fighter because of his performance against vernon forrest. i also thought that trinidad beat him because of the free punches he offered to trinindad. i believed that he didnt recover from those during that fight. you could also see that trinindad was in bit of a trouble during round three and mayorga could have done better if not of those free punches. but delahoya exposed the truth. he dismantled mayorga and proved that he doesnt belong to the elite and only has power but no skill. the same could be proven between the floyd - margarito match. floyd has still not recieved an amount bigger than 8 million. ducking margarito could have been justified if he was offered only with 2 million but he was offered 4x more. delahoya could have given him bigger purse but the golden boy has announced that he will not be fighting this year. so why refuse 8 million for a fight that he has a big chance to win? that is a reason why boxing critics are laughing at floyd. they believe that floyd is a new roy jones in the making. fighting fighters with good resume against unknown fighters. roy jones never dared to challenge Dariusz Michalczewski or joe calzaghe. same goes with floyd in his campaign above lightweight. if floyd wanted to be an all time great, he should have stayed in the lightweight and reasoned out that welterweight is just too big for him. i still could have been in the floyd bandwagon because i believe he is a king in that division.
look who is winky wright today. he used to be the most avoided fighter. the first good fighter who gave him a chance was fernando vargas and vargas won a controversial decision. i thought during that bout that vargas will dispose the unknown fighter easily but what happened? vargas gave it all but still it wasnt enough. next victim was mosley, then he pushed tito back into retirement. if floyd want to achieve greatness and earn the respect of every boxing critic, he must take risks. look pacman now, only die hard morales fans are hating him. boxing critics have high respect for him. he never avoided the best fighters in his division.

Floyd Mayweather is trying to cement his legacy as the best fighter without taking the risk and gorge himself with money at the same time. I like Antonio Margarito but i'm not saying that he would blow Floyd out in a specific round nor is he any better fighter that Floyd, but right now fighting Margarito is a step for Floyd towards cementing his legacy and the money aint that bad. that bout has all the chance to happen except that Floyd priced himself out. I do not care if he takes that fight and call it a tune up bout in preparation againts Oscar Dela Hoya, what i care is for that fight to happen cause it answers a lot of questions on both fighters. If Floyd is worthy of his number one spot in the ranking then it would leave no doubt if he silence his critics by outclassing Margarito in a fight... and if margarito is the greatest risk on Floyds legacy then it would be proven if he blows Floyd out.
