    Unhappy Japanese spitz

this is my first post ever so please bear with me if i posted this under the wrong forum. anyhoo, i'm planning on getting a puppy. i'm actually a student but i've wanted one ever since i can remember so i'm getting one probably next week. i'm set on getting a japanese spitz. anyhoo, is this a wise choice? i mean, i wanted a chow2x but most people said it's not a good dog for beginners so i'm getting a japanese spitz instead. i live in apartment so i need a dog that's not really bummed about staying inside.

i've already checked puppies and so far, i've only seen one japanese spitz. it's a female. it's already 3 months old so i'm curious if this is still a good age to buy puppies? like is it still easy to train and such? and about the papers, i don't think it's really a big factor in my choice though coz i love puppies, with papers or not but anyhoo, should i go for those with papers only? another thing, about this 'dewormed' part.. what does that mean exactly?

lastly, is a japanese spitz a high maintenance dog? like do i have to have it groomed professionally like real frequently? or can i just groom it myself?? does it need any special supplement to avoid shedding?? is it more advisable to put it in a cage (though i don't really like the thought)?

hi there, the best thing 4 u to do is research first & study the breed of ur choice if its suitable for ur needs.and NEVER perform impulse buying as it often turns in a negative way for both the owner & the pet.in researching u could do it thru books, the internet,go to dog shows & see the actual dogs, visit breeders of ur prospective breed, join dog clubs to further ur knowledge about not just ur chosen breed but dogs in general.

Japanese spitz are medium sized, longhaired breed of dog that originated in japan.it belonged to the Nordic family of dogs/spitzes which includes the akita, samoyed, pomeranian & the likes.it is a noisy watchdog & a territorial guard dog which needs early socialization & training.Every dog sheds its coat (except hairless ones) twice a year.however, dogs in the Spitz family sheds profusely as compared with shorter coated breeds.Shedding isnt a thing u could avoid but u can lessen the shedded coat by fatty acids supplementation & regular grooming (which u can do all by urself).Dogs are social animals which means that in order for them to grow to its full potential, mentally speaking-it should be kept indoors with its human. But it is acceptable to use a crate/play pen which will be the temporary home of ur pup when ur not around to facilitate its 'mischievousness',as each pup is.a crate/play pen will contain it and prevent it from getting itself into trouble.
The Japanese Spitz is the first purebred dog to arrived in the Philippines, but it was not registered with the PCCI,so it has no PCCi Papers only Vaccination Papers, which u can get from the breeder once u bought ur pup.It indicates the shots/Vaccines that ur pup has received as well as its dewormer, etc.

Hope ull do ur homework first before plunging in to get one as dog owning is more of a chore than a clinch Gudluck!!

@humper: thanks. i did a lot of reading about japanese spitz already and so far, i liked what i've found out. i don't know lang pd to what extent to sila ka true or something coz like the 'shedding' part.. i've read somewhere that japanese spitz daw don't shed but then most comments from real people in forums that i've read said that japanese spitz do shed so i'm really not quite sure now.

i'm taking up law as of the moment so i know it would indeed be an additional burden if i take on a puppy but ambot lang. hahaha. nahan lang jd ko naa kauban na dog sa apartment.

anyhoo, the japanese spitz puppy i checked out earlier had already a planned buyer though dili pa sure. the guy in the pet shop said that it was a japanese spitz samoyed daw. i was surprised coz i thought isa ra ka type ang mga japanese spitz. and then there was another jap spitz that looked a shih tzu so i guess crossbreed na tu cia or something.

neway, i liked the japanese spitz samoyed way better but since nana cia planned owner, i'm hoping na lang nga di tu cla mu.dayn. but if wala na tu ig balik namu, i don't think i'll get one na lng.

last lang nga question though. the puppy was a female, 3 months, 8.5k... is that a reasonable price?

@koikox: woOkies thanks..that would be nice... i'll do more reading about this lang sah for the meantime..

@ koikox: tnx 4 agreeing with me

@blushing siren: look somewhere else coz either the dog is a crossbred or the breeder is not that knowledgable/reputable & is more or less after the money coz 8.5t for a unpapered japanese spitz is way to high...& there is only ONE japanese spitz & it is what it is in looks & in name.there is no such thing as a japanese spitz samoyed (it may be a possible mixed of these 2 breeds) & shih tzu like japanese spitz is basically not a purebred japanese spitz.
