American authorities aren’t going to buy the political asylum case of Jocelyn “Joc-Joc” Bolante if the line he gives them is that of his being on the hit list of the communist New People’s Army (NPA).
Being closely identified with the presidential couple, and having been protected by them all that time that he was in and out of the country to ensure that he would not be found and slapped with a Senate arrest order, no one but no one will buy that story being spun — and no doubt by Malacañang.
Besides, if the US government buys that line as a justification for one to seek asylum, then heck, there are many more who are being targeted for summary executions by the death squads of the military as well as the NPA death squads, then they too can seek political asylum in the US.
It just doesn’t make sense, especially when both Malacañang and its Department of Foreign Affairs continue to maintain silence over Bolante’s move to seek political asylum by claiming that he has asked the DFA to respect his privacy.
That’s a lot a bull, and the DFA and Malacañang know it. Just see the way they treat the espionage case of Michael Ray Aquino. They are not only making conclusions and linking various opposition figures to the case in the US, but are even now spinning the issue to the point of claiming that the opposition had even resorted to spying on an “ally government,” referring to the US. Hello! If at all, it was the US government spying on the Philippine officials. Weren’t the reports all about Gloria and her government? So who was spying on whom?
But why aren’t they respecting the privacy of Michael Ray, the way they claim to do in the case of Joc-Joc? It is certain that Aquino does not want that kind of publicity on him, as far as the Philippines is concerned, add to the fact that he is not exactly in the good books of the Arroyo regime.

The first test—Is it the truth?—is simple enough; we wonder why Bolante, on the issue of the fertilizer funds which may or may not have formed part of President Macapagal-Arroyo’s 2004 campaign kitty, insists on flunking it.
may na paulion sya diri sa pinas, then diri kasuhan, para mahibaw an asa ni adto ang kwarta..
