Eyes don't wrinkle, that's a fact. They get old, get blurry and in worst case scenarios, go blind. No matter how much care you give them.

Lens however are different, I know, but given time, they do degrade no matter how much care you give them and worst case, they probably go "blind" too.

i vote for expensive camera + cheap lens...in my opinion, this combo would outshine in any given situation...esp if you need the ISO up...

but you can stil take good photos wid cheap camera + expensive lens...

i think its NOT 50-50 user/unit ratio...i stil believe its more user than unit...i duno what the ratio is, maybe 70-80% user - 20-30% unit...IMHO

apil ko ani mga masters hehehe

Cheap body + expensive lens => im into landscape, seascape and any "escape" hehehe

it's very common man ang mo start ug cheap like basic features then later on kung di na happy or
paminaw nila na byaan sila mo upgrade dayon (same rana sa Cellfons).

For me and still a recommendation, kung naa moy cheap body ayaw mo ka suya sa mga higher
model kay mas nice ilang body. Pahimusli osa ang inyong cheap body explore osa tanan praktisi
ang wla nila na praktisan di ba mo "shine" ka compare sa ilang mga shots hehehehe morag
i satisfy osa imong kaugalingon nya kung fyter naka thats the time nga palit nasad ug new body
basta can afford, ayaw osa upgrade ug body bisag di paka kahibalo... mo upgrade ka kay para
nmo wla nmo na achieve imong gusto nya imo thinking ma achieve sa higher model hehehehe
    wrong thinking...

i'll still go for cheap body + expensive lens (newbie pa man sad ko... and sige ko basa manual) hehehe

mora ra sad na ug "dalagang bukid pero pang miss international ang lawas" or "city girl pero pang bukid ang lawas" joke! hehehehehe

    nice thread ts!

The TS currently has a Canon 450D + Kit Lens and 50mm f1.8. He also uses a Canon Powershot A710 IS as backup. And In my opinion, he takes really, really great shots with just that. See for yourself: dbgg1979's photostream

So I think it's mostly the user and not the gear. If given a 5D Mk-II or a 1Ds Mk-III, even with a 50mm f/1.8, the TS would still probably make great shots. Or if given a Canon 24-70L Zoom lens mounted on his 450D, he still would be taking great shots.

So it all boils down to what he wants in the end.

i currently have a d5000 with its kitlens and a prime 50mm 1.8, sugod sa ta sa ubos but if ever i'll outgrow my cam i'll definitely upgrade to a FF (kun naa na pud budget) ang problema sa nikon kay ang 50mm dli mo AF but still very happy with my unit... =) but dli nko e dispose akong first dslr...

so as of now cheap body + expensive lense... but cheap ba gyud ang dslr bisan ug entry level lng, murag mahal man ghapon? hehehehe

    Lens is more important always.

i-klaro lang nako na DSLR cameras are not cheap at all!
so i would say nga granting similar class camera (nikon o canon lang) - adto ko sa lower cost(hehe kay canon 550D user man ko, bias?)... but i got Kit II nga EF18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. plus prime EF200mmf/2.8L II USM, 100-300mmf/4-5.6 USM. so mas mag-invest ko sa higher end lens although naa sab koy EF 50mm f/1.8 II cheaper prime lens.
conclusion: i'd go for reasonably lower cost body + higher-end lenses... daugon na lang dayun na sa creativity.
