sa ako opinyon TS, try to become a Seafarer, dli ka magmahay, although boredom imo kontra for the meantime, pero if naa ka gadgets (laptop, smart phone on board) dli gyud ka ma bored, mka kita paka ug other part of places around the globe.. Labi na ug official ka sa usa ka Vessel, mka suroy kag france, germany, and any first world countries, libre pa tnan... pagbalik nmo pinas malipay imo pamilya ky naghakot kag dollars sa imong pag seafaring! maglibog ka ug gasto sa imo sweldo ky perting dakoa! kita pa kag lain2x chx outside the philippines! hehehe

Hi TS, I know an accountant who also shifted to becoming a chef. Like you, he went to DMDP para sa basic nga course nila on that. I don't think naa to sya experience in the kitchen gyud. Basta he just applied in one of the big hotels here in Cebu and luckily nadawat bya sya. He started with an entry level position, pero karon he's a chef na gyud. There's also another one nga DMDP ghapon sya graduate, abroad pud siya nag work dayon after DMDP. Don't lose hope lng TS, keep on applying lng gyud or better still check your networks of old friends, who knows naa diay nag work na nila karn sa mga restaurants dba?

Or if maka paabot paka, naman associate degrees sa HRM. UC is offering one. Good luck!

Im also an IT grad. im 25 and turning 26 this coming February 2011. Ni take ko IT because mao sad na advise sa akong parents. Actually i wanted to become a Police officer but my parents discourage me from pursuing that dream thats why i took up IT.

sad to say... companies like Lexmark, Epson, NEC and Etc.. are elitist and only prefers top grads from IT/CS/CompE.

mao nang call center IT ko nag work karon... 3 years na ko aqni nga work. and i jsut realize that there is still hope for me to become a police officer.

ako advise sa imu nuh..... if there is still time/money/chance..... take it! dont live the rest of your life wondering and day dreaming about "waht if nag chef ku no.... naa na unta ko nag work sa 5 star hotel sa singapore".

o pde kaau sis oi, kadghan babae nga seafarer sa UC-METC karon, naa man gani ko klasmet babae marine engineering pa gyud! naa pud instructor sa UC babae officer rank is Chief Mate! one more exam nalng cya ma Master Mariner / Captain na cya and imagine babae to... ila reason ky pareha sd sa imo gusto mka travel abroad ug ma financially secured cla, bsan chief mate lng sa barko mag sweldo na gud ka ug $ 4,500 - 5,000... dli ka kita ana nga sweldo diri sa pinas if ordinary employee lng ka....

so what are u waiting for sis? Come Aboard! heheeh
