Developing programs with flowchart

does anyone of you are using flow charts as a reference of developing huge programs?
coz mostly i met with the community of programmers is not using the classical way of developing programs(considered as the easiest way)... or is it designing flow chart is for old generation? what do you think?

wew.... flowchart before designing is a gud practice for a 2500 files and 7,650 functions... in a one real os...

perhaps because community softwares or shall we say open source software(OSS) are always developing theres always a need to add new functionalities to already working softwares so the use flowchart would become useless or not much in need, instead OSS are using CVS or SVN in developing softwares to manage software development done by the community.

CVS and SVN are tools for configuration management so i don't see their connection to using flowcharts. but i do believe designs prior to development are really useful to understanding how the system should behave before putting it to code. you might also want to read up on architectural and behavioral modelling in UML

hehehe seems like i was thinking in advance when replying to that message, because as most OSS are developing or adding another functions flowcharts and UML are often forgotten or are overlooked or if worse case would not follow the original plan.

piping lines to build a flowchart is indeed a standard considering SDLC, UML & flowcharting are just 2 faces in a single coin

My java application source code is now 1.3MB and I don't do flowcharting, just some scratch papers to keep track of objects and some important notes or algorithm
