From what i can see from the problem given, there is an infinite number of answers to it. Even for for example all three people sells the eggs for $0, then technically they all have the same amount at the end of the day, they are all bankrupt.

Added to that say we make person 1 with 10 eggs sell his stocks at 1 pesos each, the other one will sell it at 0.333 pesos each, then the last one will sell the eggs at 0.2 peos each, the conditions will still be satisfied. if we try at each person 1 selling the eggs at 2 pesos each, the conditions can still be satisfied. The question one is which is the right?

let a = price of eggs of person 1
b = price of eggs of person 2
c= price of eggs of person 3

From the problem we are given

    10a = 30b = 50c

    so we can say

    f(a) = 3b and f(a) = 5c

now lets plot the equations on a graph f(a) vs b and c

The two lines meet at zeros and increases up to infinity. I dont know how you would do your shortcut(tinamban) on the problem. If you can show how to do the tinamban, that would enlighten us all.

Looking at the graph the most simplest answer to the problem which is at the point the two lines meet, at point 0,0 which means, all of them should just give all the eggs they have.

I think the problem cant be solved due to it being an incomplete problem in the first place. If one or two more conditions are given i think we should be able to find a single or a number of answers other then infinite.

But as always i could be wrong..

Posted this a while back at https://www.istorya.net/forums/scienc...-update-2.html

Im getting so rusty at my integral calculus.. that even until now i have not been able to simplify the equation to where we can easily see the relationship between the variables. Now that this math thread is here, i think it would be a good time to throw this in here and hopefully someone here can solve it. anyone who can help to simplify this that would be awesome.

eggs are not allowed to be given for free... it should be sold at a price... if the cost or total is 0(zero) then what's the used of asking this question? peace...

They can sell it at 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000001 cents. That total is 0 since no one can pay that much. =)

Indeed. but in the mathematical point of view. if they all gave the eggs away that still holds true on equations that can be generated from the problem.

There are infinite number of answers to the problem, so you might as well pick any value for price for one and the two will have calculated prices. Now this is not a shortcut way to solve that problem. Its the only way you can get a sensible answer to the problem since it not a valid algebra problem. Now if you add say another statement that says "Their total sales is 50 more than twice what each one has". By then it can be solved using simple algebra.

Here is something good to think about.. How can you determine the diameter of the earth given only a measuring stick and a protractor?
