I it all depends on how much is your budget. Some would prefer setting up a home file server or purchase a network attached storage device like Drobo. Some would subscribe to Picasa or Flickr for their online backup storage for processed photos.

Me, I subscribed to Flickr Pro account. It's cheap ($25 USD) per year and reliable. I heard Picasa is much better because it retains the quality while Flickr seems to apply a certain post processing to your photos. It's like having your photos printed in your commercial photo printer and saying print "as is" or not. But Picasa is a bit expensive for me. I'm happy with Flickr and it saved me one time when my hard drive crashed.

As for my RAW files, I just put them into DVD if they reach 1 year old in my PC. I can't afford NAS solutions atm but I'm working towards that path.
    1. All RAWs and processed photos into a NAS solution
    2. All processed photos backed up online into my Flickr account.

Thanks for sharing Bro. Ang Picasa sad kuno sa free account is 1GB compared sa Flickr nga 200MB lang ... hehe

yeah. both free versions have their own advantages. The Picasa is 1gb but once you reach 1gb thats it. While for the flickr free version, you are limited to 200mb worth of uploads per month. But you don't have a total limit. So you can keep uploading 200mb worth of photos every month and not worry of running out of space. Your only limitation is the 200mb uploads per month.

But at paid version, storage wise, nothing beats flickr. At $25 USD per year, you get unlimited storage, unlimited uploads, unlimited number of sets & collections, access to your original files and 500mb per video file limit. Compared to the Picasa that sells their storage at 10gb, 20gb brackets. I already have around 12,000 photos in my flickr account. All my personal photos are in there backed up. I even backup my client photos there too. Of course I set client and personal photos to private view only.

$25 USD is only around 1100 to 1200 pesos. That's very affordable and worth it considering that you have peace of mind. Hard drives can fail without warning despite the presence of SMART monitoring. There are also other online backup solutions available like Dropbox, but for photo storage size, nothing beats Flickr.

yes, as I mentioned in my previous posts, it all depends on the budget. drobo is one way and its user friendly too. one of the Admins here in iStorya is a Drobo user - Vern. You don't have to go drobo way. I'm sure there are Linux and Windows Systems admins here in iStorya who can provide you with simple Raid 1 to Raid 5 configurations at a cost lower than the Drobo system. The only disadvantage is that you need some knowledge in Raid configurations/systems, knowledge in OS too.
