I think The Expendables can reach the $100,000,000+ mark in the North American. The last time Stallone had a lead role in a film that made $100,000,000 or more in North America was Rocky IV and that was back in 1985.
Since then, Stallone flicks made more money outside America than in it. Come to think of it, most of Rambo's worldwide gross in 2008 came from outside North America.

There is some debate about the waterboarding scene in The Expendables
1. As it was done by a rogue CIA agent and his companions, the scene was interpreted as Hollywood's anti-torture expression. Since Sylvester Stallone was the director, it could also be his personal anti-torture message.
However, if you look at Stallone's political interests, he has a history of strong support for Bush-Cheney. It was under Bush-Cheney that the tortures happened.
The scene could mean:
2. That America is not the only one doing waterboarding, and such an act tends to be "necessary".
There is a lack of clarity on whether Stallone supports or despises waterboarding (and torture in general). He supported Bush-Cheney but also supported John McCain for president in 2008. McCain, a victim of torture himself, was at odds with Bush-Cheney and criticized the use of torture.
