    Default HUB or Switch HUB

hi im planning to buy a switch hub to replace a "hub" im currently using in the store
er is there any significant increase in speed if i use the switch hub in a siemens 4200 globe router tycoon 2mb dwn 786 up which would cost me around 7 to 8th for a 24 port i saw in SM currently im using a very cheap 2x12 port edimax hub that cost around 2th i think 2 years ago so that would be 4th still very cheap compared to that "Switch" i saw. the globe tech installer also told me that a switch 100mbps switch speed capacity will be allocated for each computer in the case of a hub the 100mbps hub speed capacity will be shared to each computers
    i got little confuse

    Get the switch.

---Hubs in general do not do any processing on network traffic. They simply repeat the incoming signal to all available ports (causing traffic congestion on a large network). A switch on the other hard is capable of inspecting data packets as they are received, determining the source and destination device of that packet, and forwarding it appropriately. By delivering each message only to the connected device it was intended for, a network switch conserves network bandwidth and offers generally better performance than a hub.---- wiki

    no one sells hubs anymore.

all stuff you will buy in the stores are switches.

    hubs are so 1990's

hehehe, so whatever brand you will buy these days, they are probably 99% switches, so nindot na sila tanan, it all depends nalang on price, warranty, and your preference. nindot sad ang cnet like monrose said. i have had 3coms cnets linksys' and xnets switches, all of them perform relatively well. way mga problema

O why the price so big in difference, and why the globe tech told me to buy a "switch"..... well the 2x16port edimax switch fast ethernet( size is like 2 hotdogs long for a 16 port like a half rectangle box black color with blue stripes) currently what im using is not really a switch said the globey tech , thats why im kinda confuse and it just cost around 1900th or 2th each 2years or 1/1/2 years ago but this model still for sale right now and very common in most stores against a 24 port lynsystm which cost around 7 to 8th in silicon valley(size is like a 4 hotdogs a complete rectangle box) and most other "switches" i saw in sm.

hotdogs? hmm i can't picture what that switch looks like
the tech guy was right and his explanation was spot on. well, hub or switch if you're only connecting a few computers then it wouldn't really matter. i would probably say, 10-15 pcs doesn't make a difference if you're using a switch or a hub unless you're moving large files all the time. save your money and keep your old hub/switch hub (whatever you call it) and spend your money on different things as you'll not gain any significant performance upgrade from that new switch
