Ermmm... the military can't operate on our soil unless it's an insurgency or a coup, right? Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Best bet would have been PNP-SAF.

Sakto ba na one SWAT unit's capabilities will be representative of all the SWAT units in the country? Anyone here naay amigo na Cebu or Mandaue SWAT? What do they have to say?

Ang better team na imu gi pangita bro, naa sa america, germany, france and britain. If nahan ka mu change ang outcome sa assault, mag Import ta ug SWAT, para kung mo order si Pnoy "GO" for sure less casualty and you will be satisfied.
... and I was wondering. We're the guys who assaulted the bus really SWAT? Can we get a confirmation on this anywhere? Nakabasa man gud ko na mga NBI ra daw to, though I would have second thought kay nag uniform man gud. Some newspapers are even calling them "commandos"!

if maguindanao massacre na blame kay GMA, its fitting man pud ma blame si Penoy aning hostage crisis, hes the highest official in the land and things can be negotiated/done. even an audience with CE Tsang wa nahitabo maybe mapugos siya to work if they had talked. but what can we expect from the aquino? .. 2 massacres caught in tape na involving them, walay resolve

sa Quirino Grandstand pa gyud. the same place penoy inaugurated. i think Mendoza plan that and plus he hostage foreign tourists.. he didnt settle for national crisis but an international one.

personally since mendoza was clamoring for his benefits.. madala ra siya ma bribe ng kwarta.

    PNoy could've mattered.

It involved foreign nationals. Hong Kong officials called on him. He chickened out. The whole world was watching. I believe Mr. Mendoza would've listened if PNoy showed any semblance of concern.

Sayang akong boto nimo PNoy! NaWangwang na ang reputation sa Pilipinas.

Actually as the president, he could have done a lot of things. Yes, I agree na he can't control how Mendoza would react or what he would do. But he can control the environment by which the incident is happening.

He could have declared a media blackout, let's face it, and its been generally discussed and talked about that what triggered Mendoza to start shooting the hostages was when he saw his relatives being arrested. This could have been prevented if the media were not allowed to show this live. We could have had a different ending to this entire situation. Mendoza, as Noy said was not bellingerent and was cooperating. Another implication of this no news blackout is that as Mendoza was monitoring inside the bus what was happening, he knows what to expect. I found the excuse given by this administration to be pretty lame. Not declaring media blackout coz they might be accused of censorship? This administration is worrying too much of their image. I believe that the safety of those hostages shouldve have been the utmost concern regardless who will cry foul. If the media didn't follow, then arrest them just like what happened in Oakwood.

Next, and this is more important I believe is that when he learned that the hostages we're tourist, and knowing how this could blow up in a diplomatic disaster and being the leader of this country, he should have reassured the public and the international community that everything was under control. He should have made sure that he had the best people handling the incident. He said so himself that they didn't have the best team handiling the assault although they were there. I'm sorry for saying this but yesterday proved how he is so wanting in leadership abilities as the president. As we all know, this incident has already turned out to be a diplomatic disasater. And what's with the facial expression and look? I mean he could have at least tried to look mournful for what had happened, but its as if he was even smirking. And comparing what had happened to Moscow? THat is not so reassuring coming from a president.

He could have done a lot more I believe. Although he shouldn't take all the blame, but as the president, as the leader of this country and with the condemnation and negative image this country has gotten from the international community with the handling of the incident, the buck ultimately stops with him.

Dig deeper into the problem, Mendoza was not there to kill, but asking for a plea to reconsider his case, simple ra man unta kaayo ang problema, ngano man diay ug e-reopen iyang case, we do not know inosente lang gyud tingale siya.
It's the handling of the situation that causes death. It's not the action in the first place but the reaction.
