There should be a city ordinance (city lang ha) that squatters can own the land after 5 years of squatting. Tan-awon nato kung dili ba na mo bantay ang mga tag-iya sa yuta. This will also solve the problem of squatting kay ang mga tag-iya pahawaon dayon nila ang mo squat para dili maangkon.

^^ i don't think you know how informal settlers(squatters) came about. it's not about 5yrs or 10yrs. some people who practice this don't even know who owns the land they occupy. and most land owners buy and sell their lands without even knowing it's being occupied. even banks own lands that are being occupied by such. it goes like this, you have have a piece of land e.g., and you get a person to live there and watch over your land and as time passes by such person starts letting his immediate family and some relatives to join him, as you know pinoys are like that, they even make a baranggay out of a squatted land. as time goes by more, the person you assigned dies and leave your land with so many people it becomes a small community or "purok". now, you decide to sell it, you think those people will just leave? NOT!!

for me the solution for informal settlers not to exist is deny them installation of electricity and water. if you don't own the land or doesn't have the guarantee of the land owner to have such then nobody will squatt. and deny them also of basic services from LGUs. they shouldn't consider informal settlers as part of their community. because in the long run it's gonna be the LGUs who's gonna have the hand in demolishing such if the court orders it so.

Very nice idea! Deny them power and water! They need to show that they are renting or leasing said property from the legitimate owners. Not the caretakers ha. Kung naay illegal tapping... aw putlon dayon!!! Veco and MCWD magsigi man pud ug taod.
