Palace appeals to officials local execs to remove names from billboards - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang urged local officials to follow President Benigno Aquino’s lead in removing their names from billboards accompanying government infrastructure projects, saying the practice smacked of self-aggrandizement.

“The President is leading by example,” Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda told reporters in a news briefing, on Wednesday, saying the President could not and would not compel local officials to remove their names.

“We hope that this would be another example that other officials would follow,” he added.
