I've made a research on this a long time ago. The input to most of the LCD is neither VGA nor composite nor DVI. I forgot the term but commonly, the video converter circuit is intergrated to the laptop board.
If you know electronics, you know how to analyze laptop circuitries, you have a wide source of active and passive components and above all you have the circuit diagram of your laptop, then most probably, you can reconstruct the adapter and create a custom made PCI card for the LCD screen.
In short, its much simpler or even cheaper to buy an LCD monitor than to put the LCD screen back to life.
