To be world-class, something must be proven on the international level.
Sure maybe those products are good, but just how good are they compared to those products from other nations like Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, Guatemala, Mexico, South Africa, and so on?
The problems with us Filipinos, according to a psychologist friend of mine, is that the "world-class delusion" sticks in our minds. The delusion is defined as this: You consider yourself world-class only because you want to have the comfort of thinking you are good. Because of this comfort, the need to prove something on the global level is either avoided or ignored. The "world-class delusion" is also being used as a marketing method.
Come to think of it, I've seen too many local cultural dancers who labeled themselves "world-class" even though they proved NOTHING on the global competitive level. Even first-timers believe they are "world-class".
Back to the topic, let's see how good the products at the expo really are - without the misuse of "world-class" that is.
