Based on the rules of Cesafi, only 5 players namely, Cortes, Hermosa, Padillo, Santos and Uy are eligible to play. I was at the board meeting held a few days before the opening when USC appealed for reconsideration. USC didn't contest the grounds of disqualification of the 10 players and admitted their fault. However, all USC asked for was recon based on th extra ordinary situation wherein only 5 players were left. Majority of the board members sympathized w/ USC's dilemna and agreed to allow 4 players who lacked academic load in the first sem of last schoolyear to play.
Kalouy sa akong alma mater pag HS...cge bugbugon ug pilde..=)) CEC dragons...
With all due respect sir, why would the first semester(or any semester of the past school year) be made a condition for the current season? That's already moot and academic. Had it been that case, the CeSAFI should have disqualified them last season and not now. I suppose they also checked that last year so it even brings more questions to the table if they were allowed to play last year even if they did not meet the qualifications and now they are being disqualified for not meeting the requirements of the previous season. Also, if they allowed the other 4 who lacked academic units, why single out Bautista who has a similar case. A certification from the USC registrar was also filed with the commissioner that Bautista could only take 12 units last semester towards completion of his degree, all being prerequisites. Being a transferee, Bautista has already completed his general education subjects(minors).
The rules specifically state that the basis for the loading requirement is the current school year. Granting that we agree that the school year starts in June, then the only basis for that is the first semester of this academic year which we have right now. I suppose it wont take a genius to understand what current means, a sixth grader can understand that.
And as a reiteration of Amarante's and Napolitano's case, they are in an exactly similar situation with Sam Hermosa three years ago. They allowed Hermosa to stay in the lineup then and can only play once the docs are filed. Why can't be the same be done now?
taympa. . unsa man jud diay ang basihan na units ? ang last year or karon na sem? ?
@inc_packz, mao nay pangutana dha, ang written rule says CURRENT semester. I don't know why CeSAFI keeps on insisting about sa loading last year. Humana man toh. OK ra man unta na cya basta klaro lang sa written rule, pero dili man. The rule is not even ambiguous, it clearly says CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR
kataw-anan kaayo ang interpretation kay mahulog nga mas maayo pa wala nalang ni enrol last 2nd sem si Bautista para ang mo count is iyang past 2 years enrolled which is 1st sem last year and 2nd sem AY 2008-2009

CEBU, Philippines – The University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters had to go through the eye of the needle against the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles before pulling an 84-80 victory in last night's lone secondary match of the 10th season of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Junior Webmasters were protecting a six-point lead, 80-74 with still 50.8 seconds left in the ballgame, but Adamme Talisic was whistled for a costly technical foul for holding Adrian Muller allowing the Magis Eagles to take the momentum.
Talisic, who contributed 11 points for UC's cause was pulled out of the game.
Bradley Bacaltos, who had a brilliant fourth period, canned two technical free throws and the Magis Eagles, after regaining ball possession, tied the count at 80-all on Muller's two charities completing a six-point turnaround down to just 14.4 seconds.
In the return play, Oscar Pua Jr. split his charities off a foul by Adven Jess Diputado with still 5.1 ticks left giving the Junior Webmasters a precarious 81-80 edge and the Eagles geared off for their finals shot. However, Muller committed a dribbling violation when their point guards failed to receive the leather as they were heading forward for a possible fast break, thus a turnover.
Rabani Comendador later saved the day for the Junior Webmasters by converting two gift shots, 83-80.
He later settled the final tally after splitting his charities off a foul by Aaron Baldwin Sing making it 84-80 with three-tenths of a second left.
The loss was the second straight for the Magis Eagles, which is way contrary to last year's 3-0 start.
Alvin Labolabo, who had to be pulled out before the end of the game when he suffered cramps on both legs, top scored for the Junior Webmasters with 29 points.
Jeric Gel Yburan was the other Junior Webmasters, who finished in double Figures, with 17 points that included a pivotal three-pointer in the fourth period.
Muller and Diputado each scored 19 points for the Magis Eagles while Bacaltos and Julius Cadavis had 16 and 13 points, respectively.
