    According to our 1987 Constitution....

    ARTICLE XIV

EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, ARTS,CULTURE AND SPORTS

    LANGUAGE

Section 6. The national language of the Philippines is Filipino. As it evolves, it shall be further developed and enriched on the basis of existing Philippine and other languages.

We all know that there is no such thing as a Filipino language. But each of our spoken dialects is considered a Filipino language whether you are a Tagalog or a Bisayan speaking citizen or every other known dialects as well. But because the seat of government is located in Manila, it is obvious that the TAGALOG language was to become the official Filipino language during the proclamation of the 1935 Philippine Constitution.

To make my long essay short hehehe. We, the Bisayan speaking citizen of the Philippines have the advantage over our TAGALOG speaking counterparts or whatever you might like to call them. We understand TAGALOG whenever they speak the dialect but the TAGALOG's don't understand the Bisayan dialect. Isn't that enough for them to know that we've just hit two birds in one stone? Lucky for us and from my point of view, I'm not complaining on the issue of a national language.

mas nice inational language ang bisaya kay ang bisaya makaspeak mn either tagalog or english but ang tagalog d ka speak ug bisaya so dapat bisaya na atong national language kay ang visayas ug mindanao kasagaran gud bisaya ila panultihon

i just realized after all those years of going against my Pilipino subjects in school, the distinct advantage is to know and use 2 relevant dialects in our country - I can communicate to Tagalogs in Pilipino while Tagalogs cant speak Bisaya but it entices them to learn it because of its common use.

yeah better to keep it as is.

nindot gyud unta bisaya kay daghan man ta pero unsaon man ang Imperial Manila man ang ga-decide ana. Mao na gisulti sa kasagaran nga "the Tagalog dialect is hiding behind what is Filipino language."

to think bah, this is not a question to be asked coz our national language is Filipino which is a dynamic language consisting of every dialect in the Philippines....sometimes people just misinterpret that Filipino is Tagalog....

If that's the case, the tagalog should learn Bisayan dialect in their Filipino subject as we have learn their tagalog dialect in our Filipino subject. That goes with other major dialects also. It would have been a better compromise than just making tagalog dialect as a sole Filipino subject all throughout the archipelago.

wa man siguro ta mabuhat if ang Filipino nga subject majority gai tagalog....kung basehan sa history, ang tagalog baya jud ang national language changed to Pilipino to Filipino.....it is true nga majority of the Filipinos speak "Bisaya" but Bisaya itself is too broad coz the "Bisaya" of one province is different from another and still cause confusion...whereas, Filipino is well recognized by the whole country and almost everybody knows how to speak in that language...
