Section 6. The national language of the Philippines is Filipino. As it evolves, it shall be further developed and enriched on the basis of existing Philippine and other languages.
We all know that there is no such thing as a Filipino language. But each of our spoken dialects is considered a Filipino language whether you are a Tagalog or a Bisayan speaking citizen or every other known dialects as well. But because the seat of government is located in Manila, it is obvious that the TAGALOG language was to become the official Filipino language during the proclamation of the 1935 Philippine Constitution.
To make my long essay short hehehe. We, the Bisayan speaking citizen of the Philippines have the advantage over our TAGALOG speaking counterparts or whatever you might like to call them. We understand TAGALOG whenever they speak the dialect but the TAGALOG's don't understand the Bisayan dialect. Isn't that enough for them to know that we've just hit two birds in one stone? Lucky for us and from my point of view, I'm not complaining on the issue of a national language.
