Hmmm, let's just say the relationship between UC and Pearce(and his family) when he was in high school was not what you would call most harmonious. Pearce actually played for FEU in the UAAP last season and ran into some roadblock and he's now back in Cebu. Hopefully, his future will be brighter with USC, both in basketball and outside of it
USC to forfeit its game against UC today.
Reason given: only 7 players can play.
Sign of protest?
I think its really unfair for USC, the media somehow portraying them as delinquents that did not submit the documents/comply with the CeSAFI requirements without stating entire facts:
Jacques Andre Bautista(5'9, Point Guard)
Reason for disqualification: He only took 12 units last semester
*This may be true but the rule states he only needs to be enrolled in 15 units for the semester of the CURRENT school year. We are yet on the first semester of the current school year so the second semester should not be basis. Further CeSAFI rule 1.6 states that in the event that a player did not enroll in the previous sem, he is still qualified as long as he passed 60% of his subjects in the last 2 semesters where he was enrolled. Meaning to say, with the case in point, it would have been better for Bautista to have not enrolled in the second semester so he would qualify.
Moreover, the reason why Bautista only enrolled in 12 units last semester is because that is all he could take towards completion of his degree, all being prerequisites. In fact, USC submitted to the commissioner a certification from the school registrar attesting to this fact.
Eddie Bakker(6'2, Power Forward)
Reason for disqualification: 7 years out of high school rule
*Eddie Bakker completed his high school studies in Canada August of 2003. While that is true, there is no way he would be eligible to play in the first semester of 2003-2004 since at its maximum, USC enrolment closes late June or early July in the most extreme of cases. So technically, Bakker is only 6 and 1/2 years removed out of high school, 1 semester short of completing the 7 years.
Alfie Amarante(6'2 Wing)
Teegee Napolitano(6'2 Post/Wing)
Reason for disqualification: Transcript of Records from West Leyte College not submitted
*Amarante and Napolitano transferred fro WLC to USC in June. In most schools, TOR processing usually takes at least 3 weeks to process. Given the volume work school staff do at the opening of a school year, it could take longer. So the earliest Amarante and Napolitano could have their TOR forwarded to
USC would have been after the deadline set by CeSAFI which is mid-July.
*However, Amarante and Napolitano submitted an informative copy of their transcripts, a document that is the exact photocopy of the original, the exact proof that the request for a school-to-school transfer of transcipt has been filed. The informative copy bearing the school logo and authorized signatures being recognized by USC upon enrollment.
*Besides, what is the rationale of requiring a transcript? To establish grades? It's right there, what's the point? In fact, there is even a precedent case of the similar circumstances. When Sam Hermosa transferred from PCU to USC, he did not have his transcripts yet. The CeSAFI then allowed that he remain in the lineup but not allowed to play until the TOR is filed. So why can't the same be done now?
Admittedly though, USC might have erred in judgment in the cases of the other 2 disqualified players. But it brings to question why did it not take long to approve the eligibility of Elwin Durano who was not in the original roster approved by CeSAFI?
The CeSAFI can do itself a favor, play fair and instill the morals of sportsmanship rather than one-upmanship and winning at all costs

na unsa nmn tawn ning USC oe, ,
taas kaaug panahon para mangamdam , , nya na engun ana ra sila . .na unsa gud tawn. .
dayun gihapon ang game ron sa USC ug UC? 7 players raman kaha ang USC? or is it really forfeited?! updates anyone?..
mao nay picture nga gi portray sa media. I have outlined the reasons why 4 of USC's players were unjustly disqualified. The rules were subjected to interpretation so di gyud ka kaingon nga walay gray areas, daghan sa reasons given for the disqualification were assumptions of the written rule.
God forbid, mahitabo na pod niya balik ang gikabungkag sa CAAA before. CeSAFI should be aware of it kay di ra biya gyud USC ang agrabyado diri, even some other teams are being agitated.
If CeSAFI wants to improve the level of play locally, they can do fans a favor by playing fair and not unjustly disqualifying players on very ambiguous reasons
