It really depends upon how much your budget for this sports and the most convenient and nearest location u want to practice. What I mean is this, for some guys P500 is already way to high, for some P1500 is still in the budget, for some the quality and competence of the (senseis) teachers are much more important than what they are paying for. There are shotokan clubs in Abellana Sports Complex, I've heard that they only charge for P300 monthly (3x a week), there is also a shotokan club near the Redemptorist Church (SACS seminary) I'm not exactly sure about the fee but my 2 cents is that it's still less than P500, there is even a karate club in Lapu-Lapu city that charges only P20 (twenty) per session. For the karate uniform it's only P500 if your going to buy it in Gaisasno Dept Store and the price goes higher as you opt for a much better quality. I hope this helps u

Shotokan groups in the Philippines with roots to Japanese Shotokan:

JKA - many branches but mainly from 2 sources: JKA Manila (Sasaki) and JKA Cebu (Takahashi)
SKIF - started out as a branch of JKA Manila but affiliated with SKIF in the late 80's
PTKF JKA - started as affiliate clubs of JKA Manila
SKA - started in Los Angeles , CA by Sensei Sasaki's senior student. Took form in the Phils. when senior instructors from JKA Manila and JKA Cebu joined the group.

Other groups also adopted Shotokan style in their clubs/associations. Some also have affiliations with international Shotokan federations.

    the larger groups are:

    KDA (affiliated with ISKF)
AAK (also has Shito-ryu and Goju-ryu in their sylabus)
    SKO
    ASK
    PSKAI

other groups also practice Shotokan style with varying degrees of competence. Some are quite very good.
