By Flor Z. Perolina (The Freeman) Updated July 08, 2010 12:00 AM

CEBU, Philippines - Three members of the opposition block in the Mandaue City council have pledged support to Mayor Jonas Cortes.

Cortes yesterday said newly-elected city Councilor Emmarie “Lollipop” Ouano-Dizon, accompanied by her grandfather, former Mandaue mayor Alfredo Ouano, promised to support the programs of the city administration during a courtesy call at Cortes’ office last Wednesday, an hour before the inaugural session of the 12th Sangguniang Panglunsod was to start.

“Whatever is good for the city, I am for it,” Ouano told The FREEMAN.

Cortes said Councilor Editha Cabahug, who was accompanied by husband former city councilor Raul “Pukang” Cabahug, also paid him a visit at his office this week, and pledged her support to his administration.

SK Federation President Gian Guiseppe Gubalani has also made known his intention to support Cortes. Gubalani is the nephew of former 6th district representative Nerissa Soon-Ruiz who ran against and lost to Cortes in the last elections.

“I’m glad that Dizon and Cabahug have seen the wisdom nga kinahanglan ang panaghiusa for the good of the city. It’s a new day and a new challenge for us as public servants,” Cortes said. — THE FREEMAN
