i really admire lee kuan yew. i cant forget this article in TIME magazine about lee. heres an excerpt:

"In the past, Lee has not been shy about singling out those nations (the Philippines has been a favorite target) in which an excess of democracy's messiness — as he might put it — has tempered steady economic progress and the betterment of the life chances of ordinary folk."

"I see the marketplace of ideas, as in the Philippines, and I see chaos, Gradually, we will loosen up." - LKY

Lee Kuan Yew: The man who saw it all - TIME

    ---

for me the success of singapore can also be attributed to its being a small country. being small means easier to manage, easier to control the population.

though being small also means lesser natural resources, their government see it as a challenge to survive. so they are force to invest on its human resources. no doubt smaller countries like singapore and israel have very advanced science/technology programs.

if we have this so called "Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB)", how do we know if the people appointed have that rock solid integrity? If naay integrity, how far would he go once those accused in power are able to kill you and your family? How would Singapore handle an Ampatuan?

sakto jud kinahanglan tag tarong nga dictator!

marcos has started it pero iya man gi bati pag dala.
