CEBU, Philippines - A 23-year-old registered nurse was allegedly raped by her boardmate in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City yesterday morning.
The suspect was identified as Junjie Loyola, 33, a native of San Jose, Catmon.
Chief Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes, chief of Fuente Police Station, told The FREEMAN that victim and her sister went to the station to report about the incident.
Bastes said the victim claimed that she was raped by Loyola inside the comfort room of their boarding house.
The police arrested Loyola, who was playing billiards, and brought him to the police station, where the victim positively identified him as the one who raped her.
But Loyola denied the allegation, telling The FREEMAN that what had happened was a plain sexual intercourse between him and his accuser.
The suspect narrated that when he arrived at the boarding house early morning yesterday, he saw the woman sleeping at the sala, so he told her to go to his room. At his room, the suspect said he and the woman were making love.
And after their lovemaking, the suspect said the woman went to the bathroom when he heard someone was looking for her.
The suspect said he saw the woman inside the comfort room seemingly crying. He told her that they are just going to talk later in the afternoon.
He said he went back to his room, but few minutes later someone was throwing something at his room. To avoid chaos, he went outside and proceeded to the billiards hall near their place.
The suspect said he did not expect that the woman will report to the police about what had happened, denying strongly the accusation that he raped her.
“Og na-rape pa nako siya, misinggit unta siya katong gipangita siya sa iyang mga friends,” the suspect explained.
But Bastes said the victim will file a case against the suspect.
“Iyaha (suspect) ra sad na nga depensa. Basta mokiha ang biktima batok niya,” Bastes said.
