actually i want to work in a call center... but im not good in English... i went this morning to Excel Asia, but damn! i failed... i wasn't able to make it up to that "product presentation thing". I'm mostly out of words and i can't think right away of any ideas... i pity myself and im so depressed...
I go for Excel Asia coz i know they would be of great help. but God why... i failed, no ones availabe to help and i guess their are no other options anymore....
hers a tip, hope this could help. first, please dont get discouraged by that. theres a lot of call centers in the city if you really want to work for one.
you maybe become so nervous during the interview. so if you want to give it another shot, practice before you go to an interview until you feel you're ready. call centers are really strict now a days.
but if its ok for you to find another job, go for what you're good at. if you're good in computers, then go for IT jobs. just be open.
thanks
Try and try until you succeed. Learn from your experience. While, doing nothing at home, do more on improving yourself instead. If your problem is your presentation and communication skills, then practice facing the mirror and speak spontaneously. This should be coupled with vengeance and motivation that you could do better than the first time. Perfect Practice makes perfect. Lastly, before the interview, anticipation helps a lot. It will give you more confidence while you converse. Hope that helps.
if you want to work in call centers, its not a must to have perfect english, but you have to be above average though. Call centers can afford to be strict since theres alot of call center hoppers out there,
@yushikokurosawa: My advice is take a course on call center training(very good for resume). Thats what I did, and after that try other companies that has the same function as ExcelAsia like RightTraining or Informatics(but Im not really sure if their style is the same, because I was with ExcelAsia only). The purpose of the course is to practice and improve your english and after you grad(1-2months) go for Righttraining or Informatics.
Righttraining will prepare you for pre interview, exams and final interview and during that training you will get to practice your english alot since you will be with other trainees.
Just for statistics, 3 out of 100 pass during final interviews for most call centers(its in the news) and during the time I was with Excelasia, it was 3 out of 60(total of 2 class), and I was expecting that around 10 would pass. This is not to discourage you, this should tell you that you need to prepare alot before applying. Because if youre not prepared you wont be confident and believe me if the HR senses that you lack confidence, theyll pounce on you during interview to fail you. But if you have confidence, and even if your english is not that perfect then they might give you a chance, because they will train you and try to improve your skills for two weeks but this time you get paid
and yes there are alot of call centers here in Cebu, take a course, and then try your luck. Techwizz and Makoys advice will help you too
The hard part for applying in call centers is getting in, and the rest will also be hard or it will become easy in the long run, but at this point you are already getting paid
thanks metz i thot that i wasnt able to qualify in excel asia as what i have written last june23. but i received their text 2days after informing me that i qualified the training, Thanks God! I finished the 1st week just today and our last day would be on friday next week. It's great! and i'm able to learn a lot though sometimes i find it hard during extempos but its worth a try. These days im practicing to communicate in english, reading articles and listening to my downloaded english communication files.
That is what im also thinking about that i really have to prepare before i apply so that when i get there i'm more confident.
I'm not yet that convinced w/ myself that after the training im already that good, i plan to volunteer in ERC or attend to another free training... i hope all of my hardworks and efforts would pay off.... i hope God will answer my prayers
thank you again guys.....
you cant volunteer for another training since excel asia will make you take the exams for whichever call center they are training you for. My advice is when they want you to do extempo... do it, even volunteer to be the 1st. and if they decide that you will be in top 5 to take the exams then be confident that winky or whoever your trainer now believes in you.(dapat lang kay di cla ka kwarta kung di ka mahire )
