“Wa man gani koy pusil. Igo man lang to nako siya gitudlo (I don't have any firearm. I simply pointed a finger at him),” Joavan said.

He said he could not understand why he has been a subject of police operations for the past years.
“Daghan kaayong problema nga angay atimanon sa mga pulis. Nganong ako man lang ang ilang gigukod (There are a lot of problems that policemen must look into. Why are they going after me)?”

Joavan said he has done a lot of good things that were never reported.
“Ako ang chairman sa Talisay Aqua Diving Club. Ang mga bati ra gyud ang nahibaw-an sa tawo; ang mga maayo, wala. (I'm the chairman of the Talisay Aqua Diving Club. People only know the alleged nasty things I've done but they don't know the good things that I have done).”

He said he has been going to the House of Prayer located at the boundary of Vista Grande and Pacific Heights Subdivision, which was constructed by his father, a Catholic faith defender, so that he and his family could spend time for meditation.
During the last elections, Joavan said he used the House of Prayer as campaign headquarters for his father's reelection bid.

While he supports his father's political career, Joavan said he has no plans of seeking a government post.
“Karon pa lang gani, guba na man ang akong reputation, unsa pa kaha kon mosulod ko sa politika (My reputation has already been destroyed even if I'm not seeking a post in the government. What more if I will enter politics)?” Joavan said.

Joavan is out on a P200,000 bail for charges of serious illegal detention and physical injuries in the mauling of two vulcanizing shop workers on Aug. 11, 2009, whom he suspected of stealing his father's spare tire.
Since he was released from jail in June 2009, Joavan, 27, admitted that he has been financially dependent on his father.
