Nalingaw ko basa ani nga thread. A lot of insights, ideas, opinions sa mga tawo.
Maybe we should include the Governor from the choices, since the Governor is the head of the PDC (Provincial Dev't Council). LDC (Local Dev’t Council) is the one who where tasked to solve this...“traffic”.
But we should understand that traffic is not an isolated problem. Coordination/assistance from all cities/municipalities/barangays involved is much needed. Political will if we may say.
I do agree that proper & strict implementation of the law must be observed, to educate/discipline everyone. To include drivers, commuters, pedestrians, law enforcers, & even vendors. Look at Colon..uban tawo naa na sa dalan galakaw kay ang sidewalk puno og vendors.
I also agree that mass transit can & must be implemented but only in a major thoroughfare. For now, it’s difficult if not impossible to totally eradicate jeepneys. Aside anang daghan mawad-an og trabaho, there are certain areas that mass transit is not applicable. For instance in Urgello..I could not imagine buses going in & out in that area, tungod sa kagamay sa lugar. Habal-habal is illegal but yet tolerated by the gov’t because there are areas especially in the mountain barangays that no other means of transportation but only habal-habal.
But why don’t we look at the problem on a macro level, the root caused of traffic. As they say...mangkuyog man gyud nang traffic og development. Kung wlay dev’t, wlay traffic…kung wlay traffic, wlay dev’t. People tend to moved towards development, hence causing migration, over population, congestion…"traffic". Why don’t we reverse the system? Instead of people going to the dev’t, bring dev’t to the people. Distribute the development. Again, political will if we may say.
For a long term solution to this problem, a revision & strict implementation of the Land Use Plan, & Zoning is a must.
But in reality we can never avoid traffic. Even the most progressive & wealthy nation is experiencing this…but we can lessen them.
^^agree ko sa imong last statement sir. esp in NY. grabe ka trapik ngandto...
