i beg to disagree to both of you and to ramie. Americans are not poor in logic nor lazy. Nagsalig sila sa tech support because they are paying for that. They are not "resourceful" matud pa ninyo because they are not paid to be. It's not about persons capability but on how they were brought up.
Simple ra na. Ang amerikano if wala nay labot sa ilang sweldo nor sa ilang description, di na sila manghilabot. Why? Because they were brought up to that idea kay most of the time if manghilabot ka nga wa kay labot, mao nay kaprisohan or worse kamatyan nimo.
Sa tech support sad, kinahanglan sila manawag since apil man na sa ilang gibayaran. Samut na if ang ilang napalit, labi na consumer eectronics, way klaro ang troubleshooting instructions and worst to that ang troubleshooting instructions kay contact tech support.
wala nako gigamay ang atong call center agents. pero ngano masuko man ta if wa na sila magkinahanglan sa atong serbisyo? abi nako resourceful ta? abi nako naa tay logic?
Mao sad sir, and add to the fact that majority of those people calling in represent a very tiny proportion of Americans. Most of them don't even bother calling tech support, they just google it on the internet. Let's put things in perspective. If Americans are "illogical" let's count how many technological innovations they have come up with. Nearly everything has been invented there, so why even bother. But I will anyway for the sake of argument: The automobile, the microprocessor, iPods, iPads, aircraft, countless military-grade weapons and related tech, the list goes on and on and on. They are tremendously successful not because they are parasites as what one poster mentioned, but because they are among the most creative, resourceful, hardworking and self-reliant people on the planet. When was the last time something was invented here? The fluorescent light bulb which was nonetheless patented and bought out by an American company because our local politicians were too stupid to support its inventor? That's rich...
So let's just put things in perspective. Call center agents serve a useful purpose for them, but they only really get to talk to a very small percentage of Americans. And as I've said before, just because someone does not know how to log-in to the internet does not mean they aren't 1000 times smarter than the average call center agent... It simply means they don't know how to log-in to the internet.
