i beg to disagree to both of you and to ramie. Americans are not poor in logic nor lazy. Nagsalig sila sa tech support because they are paying for that. They are not "resourceful" matud pa ninyo because they are not paid to be. It's not about persons capability but on how they were brought up.

Simple ra na. Ang amerikano if wala nay labot sa ilang sweldo nor sa ilang description, di na sila manghilabot. Why? Because they were brought up to that idea kay most of the time if manghilabot ka nga wa kay labot, mao nay kaprisohan or worse kamatyan nimo.

Sa tech support sad, kinahanglan sila manawag since apil man na sa ilang gibayaran. Samut na if ang ilang napalit, labi na consumer eectronics, way klaro ang troubleshooting instructions and worst to that ang troubleshooting instructions kay contact tech support.

wala nako gigamay ang atong call center agents. pero ngano masuko man ta if wa na sila magkinahanglan sa atong serbisyo? abi nako resourceful ta? abi nako naa tay logic?
Mao sad sir, and add to the fact that majority of those people calling in represent a very tiny proportion of Americans. Most of them don't even bother calling tech support, they just google it on the internet. Let's put things in perspective. If Americans are "illogical" let's count how many technological innovations they have come up with. Nearly everything has been invented there, so why even bother. But I will anyway for the sake of argument: The automobile, the microprocessor, iPods, iPads, aircraft, countless military-grade weapons and related tech, the list goes on and on and on. They are tremendously successful not because they are parasites as what one poster mentioned, but because they are among the most creative, resourceful, hardworking and self-reliant people on the planet. When was the last time something was invented here? The fluorescent light bulb which was nonetheless patented and bought out by an American company because our local politicians were too stupid to support its inventor? That's rich...

So let's just put things in perspective. Call center agents serve a useful purpose for them, but they only really get to talk to a very small percentage of Americans. And as I've said before, just because someone does not know how to log-in to the internet does not mean they aren't 1000 times smarter than the average call center agent... It simply means they don't know how to log-in to the internet.

i have to agree with what raski stated. but.. sa tan-aw nako, lisud lisud jud ni tumanun na bill. number one factor for this NOT to be realized is the wage cost. monthly salary for a single person in the us can be paid to 2-3 persons here, and that's dirt cheap IMO. (some say 1:5 daw) Of course it cant be denied na kamao sad jud ta, so you combine that with a cheaper rate, lisud jud buhian. its all about the money anyway.

as far I as understood, the reason why Americans (well, a number of them) wants to push this is that they (Americans) usually get responses/answers from agents who aren't really fluent with American English, which the Philippines have mastered I could say(just listen to your call center agent friends converse in their tongue-for-work, or the language they use at work, and you'll hear them speak American English fluently).

I believe these people are dissatisfied with agents who do not speak (or at least sound like) their language, especially when the language barrier is the issue, and wants to push this one. I do pray that they see that they should be satisfied with Filipino call center agents.

all i see here is a trend in the problem.. in the US, the employers worry that the wage of the workers there are too high... i the phils, local businesses also worry because the wages of the workers are too high..

bottomline is.. grabe ra kaau mangau sweldo ang mga workers... pampatay sa negosyo... its not the fault of the countries.. its the fault of greedy citizens...

wala pa man kaha ma pasa ang bill? kuyaw if na approve na! goodbye call center na!
i think ang US is looking for more taxes...it means the more jobs in the country, the more taxes they will have! or they might still continue outsourcing employees outside of the country but they're going to raise more taxes on behalf of the employers. Wala pa ni sure!
