Thumbs up Flash out - HTML 5 in

Adobe has now embraced HTML 5 signalling the end of FLASH in the near future.

Flash programmers must now start learning the ropes of HTML 5.

"HTML5 is great," Lynch said while Google executives touted the format as a key to rich online experiences to come.
"It's really fun to see new technologies come out like this. Of course, we work on a variety of technologies at Adobe. Today, we want to focus on HTML5."

hmm....ok sya for like video stream. but i think naa ko nabasa nga "dili pwede" for games? ^^ idk

The HTML5 video element is for streaming, pero naa may bag-ong elements/api na apil sa HTML5 like the canvas element. We could use that to draw, unya Javascript for the interaction. Naka abot ka atong Google Pacman? Javascript raman tingali na siya.

Sa Chrome Experiments sad daghan examples pero more on Javascript side siya kay murag nagpakita man ni sila kung unsa ka paspas ang Javascript engine sa Chrome compared sa uban browsers.

    Examples

hmm...karun pako anang google pacman. Using JS instead of Flash? would the result be the same? the graphics and all.

And i wonder, when a site is using html 5 there's no more buffering, yes. how's that possible? xD I haven't really tried using html5 yet.

I haven't really tried, pero why not? Just use the same graphic files then control them using Javascript. Depende ra tingali na kung unsa ka kusog imong Javascript-Fu. Even Quake II was ported to GWT.

In the port, we use WebGL, the Canvas API, HTML 5 <audio> elements, the local storage API, and WebSockets to demonstrate the possibilities of pure web applications in modern browsers such as Safari and Chrome.

Mag buffer paman ghapon when using html5's video/audio element. Unless kung paspas na imong connection, then dili naka ka notice na ga buffer na diay.

can you name sites using html5?

but in vimeo, there's no more buffering.

when you say "same graphic files" what exactly is the file?

Vimeo, Video Sharing For You uses html5 but you have to use safari or chrome and i think IE (but not just the normal IE. I think you need to add something to IE idk) ^^

Dili lang nimo makit-an pero it's still there. Basin paspas lang jd kag connection. Sa akong pagsabot, basta mag stream, mag buffer jd na siya sa content. Pero I might be wrong.

So, using flash: Download the video flashplayer's .swf then stream from media server. Using the video element: Directly stream from the server, no need to download the player since builtin na sa browser.

    Kung kani sad pasabot nimo:

Pasabot lang ana kay maka move ka sa timeline without waiting for that part of the timeline para ma buffered, pero inig move na nimo kay mag buffer nasad siya starting sa asa ka ni frame. Hehe.

For example sa flash maka embed man kag ug assets like image files, audio files, etc. Unya i-control na nimo via Actionscript or sa timeline ba. I think in-ana lang ghapon sa html5, pero this time kay HTML/CSS/Javascript na ang gamiton.

In a way, HTML5 has been reduced to a buzzword. You hear a lot of noise about how great it is for video, and how the web standard is an alternative to Flash content, but you don't see a whole lot of examples of that. We thought we'd take a moment and round up some of the cooler, more exciting instances of HTML5 online -- sites and experiments that go way beyond just playing someone's home movies. We're talking 8-bit gaming, some really crazy video effects, and a handful of incredibly interesting ways designers are maximizing the potential of the everyone's favorite new toy. Check out the links below, and prepare to readjust your expectations of HTML5.

i was referring to this "You can jump anywhere in the video, without having to wait for it to buffer" kai kung sa flash lang nga youtube kay di man ma move ang kanang gamay gani nga circle s aubos. while in html5 if nana ang video mu load siya, pwede na dayun nimu ma move ang circle bisan asa dapit. and mu play japun ang video.

    thank you sa info ^^

    @manick: amazing.
