The tree cover along the route to Mount Babag is almost exhausted by rampant slash-and-burn farmers and charcoal gatherers and magnified the more by the ongoing El Niņo phenomenon that leave subsistence farmers to join in cutting more trees to feed their family as their farms could not yield the desired harvests.
Inviting all outdoor clubs and concerned individuals to celebrate Earth Day on April 25 by bringing fruit seeds or sharing fruit to the Roble family whose homestead is chosen by some outdoor groups as a seed bank site for a future tree-planting activity to be scheduled during the rainy season along the route leading to Babag Ridge.
This activity will also be the time to learn a bushcraft skill in spoon carving. Bring your sharpest knife and/or multi-tool and let's see if you could make a good one.
