Hi Guys,

Naa koy 1 year old American Cocker Spaniel unya last time napansin nako naa sya Cherry eye or prolapsed gland sa iya right eye. Unsaon mani sya? kinsay naay same situation ani sa inyo dogs?

Sa akong nabasa, sa mga dog like mine og sa Boston Terriers, Beagles, Bulldogs, Saint Bernards, Shar-Peis, Lhasa Apso and rare to some. Sila jud daw kasagaran naay ing-ani. Unya nakabasa sad ko na Pwedi rasad daw ni sya butangan eye drops unya massage sya pabalik...ako gi tan-aw sa youtube murag sayon rajud nila mabalik unya ako gi try murag nag lisod ko kay labi na lihok ako Cocker..pero usahay mawala raman sya pero naa time mo balik nasad..

Now kinsay vet diri na kabalo aning “Pocket Technique” or “The Stitch”? any one? Og how much sad iya pangayo? Kay ang removal naa ko gi ask 4,000 man daw.

Mao bah ..nag guol lang jud ko nag tan-an sa first day niya ato kay nakuyawan ko ..abi nakog unsa na sya...mao pag basa nako sa internet medyo na relax nako..unya sa karon nakabalo nako mo pabalik sa iya Cherry eye through massage sa mata unya gina eye drops sad nako iya mata pag incase mo balik og ing-ato after or before massage. So far ma master na nako og balik heheheh sa karon mga 2 days na ala na ni balik ang cherry eye..salamat..maayo unta mawala rani sya...!

ug yup always najud ni nako sila tagaan Vitamins C kay usahay raba maka limot ko hatag hehehe Thanks bai Chad..!

gud day.cherry eye is actually one of the common eye problems which plagued cocker spaniels due to their large lobular eyes(others are as follows:distichiasis,glaucoma,ectropion,keratoconj unctivitis sicca).other breeds which could suffer this problem are bulldogs,boston terriers,beagles & lhasa apsos.the cause could be congenital (so its not advisable to breed or offer for stud affected dogs) or accidents/trauma such as kanang cgeg lugnot ug i walk or machoke ang dog could sometimes promote its occurence,among others.
this eye problem occurs when the tissue that holds the tear producing gland in the dog's third eyelid weakens,causing the gland to pop out of place & become visible at the inner corner of the eye.the gland looks like a cherry -round & bright red,hence its name.
Treatment consists of surgery that tacks the gland back into its proper position.failure to treat cherry eye can result in the development of KCS (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).no supplement is reported to treat the problem,only SURGERY.

ang ako cocker fids kay hapit na totally mabuta. ang right eye kay niputi na ang kalimutaw nya ang left kay lubog na sad.

So far ala naman sya ni tunga mga almost a week na ako ra sya gi massage unya eye drops..siguro sad na ing-ani sya kay always jud ni sya matuok sa iya hikot kay unsaon man very excited man sya unya guyudon jud ko always....unya I always correct his bahavior na dili mag una...

2. Cherry eye is a commonly seen defect of the eye of the dog which is seen most often in specific breeds. Cherry eye is treated surgically and is considered to be an inherited disorder, though it is not necessarily a deterrent to breeding an affected dog.

And regarding with KCS (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) or "dryeye' mag ka sakit ang dog ani na with Cherry eye if incase sa surgery tangalon ang "Prolapsed Nictitans" which is the red one or the cherry... which now a days dili advisable na i-remove sya instead ang buhaton kay “Pocket Technique” or stitch which tahion lang sya unya ibalik sa area kay kani na gland ang mag buhat og tears para dili ma dry ang eyes sa dogs... Kay if kuhaon sya ang result KCS and this dryeyes pajud naa pajud laing mga sakit makuha niya tungod kay always uga iyang mata unya sige nalng ka ani og hatag eye drops everyday..these are base sa ako nabasa sa net...

So mean if naa cherry eye inyo dogs unya ipa surgery ninyo..better jud ayaw ipa removed ang prolapsed gland..instead ipa stitch lang pero mao sad lagi kinahanglan expert sad na vet ang mo buhat ani or daghan na experience ug buhat ani kay dilikado baya kay mata na baya ni...saon nalng basin praktisan ra mabuta uroy imo dogs or unsaman ...

sama ra ni sa nag-ingon nga pwede i-breeding imong masakiton nga iro basta ni-conform lang siya sa breed standard (e.g. size, proportion, substance, coat, neck, topline).
