Politicians are wily and despicable. Everyone should remember that. Only in the Philippines... changing party affiliations is just like changing his/her own briefs or panties. As easy as that.

If politicians are wily and devious it is because the people are complacent and allow them to be so. In countries like England or Australia, their politicians wouldn't dare steal because the public furor would call for their heads (literally). In fact, at the turn of the century, France conducted several beheadings of corrupt politicians who lost power during the French Revolution. Does the Philippines have the stomach for that or have we been brain-washed into thinking that aggression is bad.
What I find disturbing is that some of us even criticize or look down upon Thailand because of the violent protests staged there, when the reality is that Thailand will emerge stronger from this and will remain far more stable and wealthier than the Philippines will ever be. At least they know how to defend and fight for democracy. We had Hello Garci and did nothing. As a nation of lackadaisical and indifferent citizens, we are a failed nation and a laughing stock among democracies.
